I fully look forward to the day that we see this person taken to a landing cell in Mountjoy prison to sh*t in a bucket with the rest of the prisoners.

Then I wake up and realise that he probably has dirt on so many FF members (maybe even the Porcine Cowen, who knows what his hamness got up to in his efforts to bring home the bacon) that there is more chance of serial tax cheat, liar and fantasist extraordinae, B-B-Bertie ''fake stutter to appeal to the idiot classes'' Ahern ever having to properly answer for all his dodgy dealings.
No matter what you think of yourself, the moment you try to justify the murder of an innocent with idealism, no matter what that ideal might be, you take your place on the side of evil and all your claims to virtue are as naught.

WE cannot take his home if his wife has a claim on it?

Why don't we change the law so we can? if it is unconstitutional why don't we have a referendum to make it constitutional.

We can get all his assets, even foreign ones, if we put enough pressure on the corrupt FF party to have a referendum.

You could change the law, but it wouldn't be retrospective and it wouldn't just affect the rich. If you're fine with that then yeah, push for the change.

As for Fitz, same rules as for everyone else in the country, pay your bills or lose your assets. Crying poverty doesn't work, it's your own responsibility to manage your debts. In his credit he seems to accept he owes the cash and is making every effort to cooperate. On the other hand if I had 60 million in assets and 80 million in debt at some point in my life, I'd make sure there were some liquid assets offshore that only I knew about.

"The Irish Independent has learned Mr FitzPatrick has engaged leading criminal law firm Michael Staines and Company to represent him as he faces as onslaught of civil and criminal investigations. The firm's principal, Michael Staines, will lead Mr FitzPatrick's legal team, which includes an array of specialists to deal with specific issues such as the Anglo debt action. "

If he is as broke as he says he is, who's paying these guys? I'm sure they dont come cheap.

He has no assets in this jurisdiction but he has assets outside the state which will probably keep him in expensive lawyers

I would be fine with this change. Just because something is retrospective doesn't mean it cannot be done. WE OWN THE LAW. The CAB laws are retrospective. We could even impose a 99.999% tax on bank bonuses over 100k back dated if we voted for it in a referendum.
