The Fás report was supposed to be independent. The work that the previous Auditor did was on record and also the details in the report were clearly absent of certain issues that could not be unavailable. In fact certain points in the report were totally inaccurate and could not be misinterpreted by the C&AG in their capacity as Auditors. This letter written by Terry Corcoran was very damaging to the credibility of the C&AG.

The Reports----information on planning issues was "deliberately and systematically witheld from the current executive board". Who is responsible for this deliberate and systematic witholding of information> Is there a criminal offence disclosed here and should the Gardai be sent in to the DDDA to investigate?

Quite correct. Its unfair to heap all the balme on Biffo, he just signed off on a deal that now costs us over 400 million, without evaluation.Incredible. No doubt he will tell us that it was on advice frolm one of his cronies. This from the master of his brief. But then he was too busy singing and visiting pubs. As Mattie McGrath says, he is lazy and out of touch."I did it my way". And the band plays on.
You'd think Kenny committed Treason and brought in IMF. Cowen had all in stitches in Galway at 3.30a.m.but he was "not impaired" -DD Power. FF=Publican páirtí an IMF.

    That should be plural.

Gormley has still failed to allow the Comptroller and Auditor General to have an oversight in relation to the DDDA --wonder why? Niamh Brennan the Chair of the DDDA has no objection . By the way ,over the past few years we have had a lot of claptrap from Lenihan and Cowan about patriotism--I note that Professor Brennan has taken no money for her work in the DDDA and in the light of the parlous state of the public finances maybe they would encourage some of the worthy people they have appointed to all the other State Boards to take a leaf out of Professor Brennans book. They could also encourage their Ministerial colleagues who have a car plus driver twenty four seven to stop claiming additional expenses for travel as TDs in their constituencies--a word in Berties ear in this respect might do no harm either. Lets give some real meaning to the word patriotism.
