Dot-com bubble 10 years old today

Today, March 10th 2010 marks the 10th anniversary of the height of the dot com bubble.
On this day in 2000, the NASDAQ peaked at 5,132.
Today it stands at 2,340 – a 54% decrease.

To any bottom-picker or knife-catcher who is determined to enter our own property market in an effort to pick up a bargain, I would ask they examine the causes and mistakes of the dot-com boom and bust before making their purchase.
There are all too many striking similarities between them.

Happy birthday dot com! Yesterday was the 1st birthday of the largest false bull market rallies in history. The S & P touched 666 before rallying to where it is today above 1,100 all thanks to printing money out of thin air. All hail Helicopter Ben!

From dot com to dot coma

I remember it well. There were literally companies with no sound underlying business model or proven profitability whatsoever appending 'dot com' to their names and the stock value skyrocketed.

'What do you recommend we buy today Bob?'

'Liver-n-Onions-Icecream dot com looks good to me Barb'

'Awesome. Thanks Bob'

Aye, that was a good, and more importantly, practical one. So many stupid ones though that were never going to be profitable. God could you imagine if the dotcom bubble had occurred simultaneously with the peak of the Celthick Tiger?

Are we talking property bubble or dot-com bubble here?

Actually, in retrospect, many of the dot-com companies seem positively sane in comparasion to our property companies.

There was a web site back then (cant remember the name) where you put in your company name.com, and it would give you an instant valuation. Like, MacO'velli.com= $10,000,000!!

.com boom and bust led many to invest in property boom and bust to today's gold boom and (future) bust.

Ah yes, I remember it well... the sick feeling when I sold Baltimore too early..way too early. I bought it as Zergo and doubled my money in a reverse takeover. Had I waited until 2000 I would have been a multi millionaire.
