So it's better to pay dole than pensions? Is that your point?

    It isn't that complicated.
I have already proven why you are wrong in post #8

And the fact that machines and automation do so much work these days then surely we don't need to make people work longer?

Think of it this way Nugget, by the time you reach 65 years of age you could retire but say you live for another 50 years which is possible given todays breakthroughs in medicine etc. you be claiming a state pension for 50 years.

This practice of painting everyone as 'cowardly' because they refuse to aggressively oppose sensible Government appears to be quite common amongst the ranks of Paranoid Left.

Did it ever occur to you that the majority of people might just disagree with you?

Why do people need to work untill 68? Do we have a labour shortage in this country or something? Last time I checked we will have 500,000 unemployed by the end of 2010. I can only include that that this is an attempt by the right wingers to glut the labour market even further to drive down wages even further. This government is also attempting to get rid of public state pensions and privatise them all.
I agree it's disgusting. I'm sure we all know people who struggled hard to keep on their feet until they were 66 and could claim the pension. I know my parents did. I'm just hoping when we kick FF into touch we can reverse it. Please put it on the list of things to quiz FG and Labour about on the doorsteps.

It's happening in the UK. Not only are there no strikes, there is hardly any controversy at all over it.

Yes that is the main reason the government increased the retirement age. It means more funds for bankers to gamble in the international casinos.

Germany has also raised the age from 65 to 67.
