I'm coming from the "It's about creating something that will make a long term positive impact on the future of Ireland, its people, and its economy."

From the economic side, If companies can't find new ideas and exceptional graduates out of a couple for thousand high quality research papers each year - particularly from the science and engineering students - then we are royally buggered.

Sure, its better than 50,000 unemployed people sitting on converted gym-bikes in the back garden of the Aras generating electricity for export isn't it

My proposal would involve getting 10,000 working people a week to jump off a cliff, thus creating 10,000 job vacancies. In under a year unemployment in this country would cease to exist*.

    Now where's me hundred grand!?

Excellent idea, long overdue, we should adopt the same system as Australia uses, it looks after people who lose their jobs, but doesn't allow the dole to be a life style choice

    Take that website down immediately.

If the international investment community start reading it, we're rightly screwed.
Not as screwed as if they read some of nonsense posted on this site

Only if we also electronically tag them at the same time, as otherwise it would be an open invitation for working in the black economy

Idea 1 - Slash the salaries of all our top civil and public servants including Ministers, the President, government and presidental advisors, RTE presenters, DG, etc.
That would save us several million a year and with the savings we could help sme's in trouble.

Idea 2 - Limit the president to 3 foreign trips a year. This phenomonen of the President travelling all over the world at our expense serves no purpose. She has no particular skills, diplomacy, business or otherwise. We already have embassies that sell us abroad and we have bord failte and the ministers travelling on st paddys day. She is just duplicating this work with no benefit to us.

Idea 3 - Shut down the monstrosity of the ARAS. The cost of heat and light alone must be astronomical. Shut it down and rent a 5 bed house somewhere.

Idea 4 - Sell off Farmleigh House.

All these ideas would generate much needed capital for the taxpayer. The money generated would be substantial as would the benefit to the country.
