    Yeah its GDP for the nations currency. The deficit refers to General Government Deficit rather than our own Budget Deficit. The bank capitalisations of 11 Billion Euro 7 Billion of which is not included in General Government.

    If we were to add in the bank capitalisations our Budget deficit as a percentage to GNP (rather than GDP) is between 18 and 19%, the worlds largest.

    Portugal's figure is out of date. It should be 9.3%. Also, I think we should be 11.6%. Still leaves us 4th.

    in reality it's much worse for us. Our GDP figures have always been a fiction. Reduce it by at least 15% to have comparability with other countries. So our debt level is probably the worst in the World in pure economic common sense terms. Add in the NAMA funding, and we'll be way out in front.
