So, did they call his bluff? No.
Orbit - if it were in Ryanair's interest to talk to the DAA, Micko would be talking with them. And the only circumstances in which Micko would set up a heavy maintenance facility in Dublin would be if it was good for Ryanair. Nothing else gets considered, which is why he and Ryanair are so successful.

Read my previous post, as to how it could be in Ryanair's interest to set up a heavy maintenance facility in Dublin.

Have we lost such faith in ourselves that so many people believe this couldn't be the case?

But that's my point - if it's in Ryanair's interest, he'll set up here, if it's not he won't. And if that requires him to talk to the DAA, he'll talk to them. I keep telling you, there's another agenda here - he's being offered exactly the same in Dublin as he is being offered wherever else he is considering. But he wants something else. Are the other locations not able to deliver on time, or is he unable to source sufficient qualified staff? Don't be fooled

Talking to the DAA is a red-herring. The staff at the IDA and even Coughlan's officials would find a way round that. Getting H6 was the main point of contention.

Without H6, Dublin doesn't look so attractive a location any more.

Mr. Wolf. It beggars belief what the motivation of some people is. I don't like to contemplate it. But, it has to be said that some trade unionists have come out in support of Ryanair on this. Strange maybe, but true ...

    Have you not noticed?

Tonic,Sailor and Lostexpectations have all taken a very pro government and anti Ryanair stance on this thread.

No matter what arguments are presented Ryanair are completely wrong and the government is completely right.

The conclusions are obvious that the above named are just FF poster hit men out to derail and defuse legitimate criticism of government actions.

They have a distinct and well developed line of argument presented by all three which seeks to subvert Ryanairs bona fides .

In addition not one of these posters has ever answered or responded to the query over Brian Cowens Dail assertion that a competition was held for hanger no 6.

No evidence has ever been forwarded for such competition.

Ryanair has accused the government of telling lies in this matter and others.

The goverment has not responded to Ryanair.

The propaganda battle has been well and truly won by Ryanair to date leaving the government bruised and beaten.

Unless the government finally clarifies the issues on this controversy then I for one will have weakened faith in the veracity of government Dail statements

So make of it what you will but one thing is clear.

This story is not going away

Wrong - I have clearly stated that if he has misled the Dail he should be held accountable.

He's been offered a precise copy of H6 - which is what he himself says he has been offered by the other government he keeps quoting - so you have to conclude that we still don't know what he's really after.

Of course it was all about hanger 6.
But Coughlan refused point blank to intervene.

Had she intervened directly, and there was nothing to stop her doing so,then it is possible there would now be new 500 jobs in hanger 6.

Ground control would slow movements in an out of a replica H6 in a restricted location (the DAA have a track record for peevishness and small mindedness)

I can see how Ryanair have been forced to take the 500 high skilled jobs elsewhere.

Well done FF, the DAA and the Unions.
Precisely the point I made days ago - maybe Micko took his eye off the ball last year and suddenly is short of alternatives. And now he wants the government to intervene in a dispute between himself and a competitor.

Simple, honest answer is I don't know, but I would have every confidence in Micko's ability to sort out any such messing. And this business of aircraft movements is a hair - the Ryanair plan is for heavy maintenance, which does not include shuttling aircraft in and out every half-hour.
