Sure FF plan to create 200,000 jobs, but they dont. Lets see the plan Inda.
the plan has been around for a months now lads. wakey wakey.
It involves building up our ******************** infrastructure so we have a decent running water scheme and good broadband.
Instead of the billions being used to bail out the bondholders and Zanu FF gombeen class, that money can ploughed into building up our infrastructure and putting in place a regulated and well run banking system.
We need schools built.
We need the railways rebuilt and brought up to scratch - Metro in Dublin, Luas Interconnector, Navan line built. Integrated rail-Luas transport in Dublin, electrify the entire rail network. Bring back rail freight and get the big artics off the roads
Build 2 nuclear plants and use that cheap and renewable energy to electrify the railways.
Roads - build the Atlantic corridoor.
Invest in sustainable energy (wind power & hydroelectricity)
Agriculture - invest and develop GM foods, increase crop yields and increase efficiency and production. With an increasing world population, we could tap into this lucrative market as there will be always be a market. mass farming.
Connect the entire country to broadband, rebuild the water and sewerage network.
Its a start but what we need is an emergency plan. Instead of giving the zombie banks billions, we can start laying the foundations to rebuilding our economy.
NO TO IMF/EU FEUDALISM
An extract from a current submission to government depts, backed by global historical data.
Every billion dollars spent on energy infrastructure generates 17,000 long term direct and indirect jobs

but this is ireland , bankers first , the people last
At least they've a plan, more than FF are offering at the moment.
In an other wise solid post , I disagree with the above . GM or no GM we can not compete with the ginormous superfarms that exist in larger countries . We should be heading in the opposite direction aiming for quality not quantity .Despite incompetence, greed and inefficiency, Ireland as a 'green' economy could still work . If only we had a forward thinking green government .

The people must look after themselves, after a lecture to a few hundred students in Waterford IT last week to display the ability of our renewable resources to renew our economy and provide jobs for these young people, I was asked how do we make it happen and the answer as always is just do it. The OP mentioned Highland Radio, it was people power that gave us commercial radio in this country.
