    Goodwill works both ways.
The PS unions come to regret taking the public for fools and idiots.
never again will a government from whatever source be able to get away with cosying up to such a rotten system as PS and their quangos.

They will remember the ''I'm not answering the phone'' attitude the next time these people come looking for a pay rise, which will probably be about the early years of second decade of the 21st century.

Well, answering the phone got them two pay cuts in the space of a year, so maybe taking a different tack will be more worthwhile.
Nothing will motivate the lazy / apathetic / Americanised / west-British types to embrace their culture and the Irish language.

It's amazing how, after all the propaganda about them doing nothing, we're told of the huge hardship caused when they take the bare minimum action against abuse by their employer.

Amazing that eventhough our tax take will be < €30 billion the Government geniuses can still pay overtime to its workers. What crisis ?

And the underpaid CPSU can refuse to work overtime eventhough they are underpaid supposedly. CLASSIC

No they were forced into canceling the second strike by the silly actions of their own membership. 90 minutes on the picket line, then off to Newry. That PR disaster forced them to the negotiating table.

The government have nothing to offer as a quid pro quo other than going easy on further cuts. The union leadership know this, which explains their reluctance to demand pre-conditions. If the cat gets out of the bag before the negotiations are bedded down, the more militant among the membership may take matters into their own hands.

Best to bore them into submission with endless choreographed negotiations that yield nothing substantive on the restoration front, maybe a promise not to cut too deeply again in the next budget as long as the transformation agenda is fully implemented.

No, being paid more than we can afford got them the two paycuts.

Who cares about the fantasy numbers in the public service pension bill?

You think that will be paid in real life?

    Why?

The gov't has already got away with reneging on one promise, the towards 2016 deal. They will do the same when payment time is due on the pensions.

That money is a mirage and everyone knows it.
When you see the words "Mises" or "Hayek" in someone's post, just ask yourself: do I really want to ban paper money and go back to gold?

You have to pity the kind of people who buy into conspiracy theories. I find the following to be the saddest words on the internet: "Re: connection between Bilderberg puppet lady gaga and viral outbreak in ukraine "

    Not a good start.

It is not a bad move. It is acknowledgment that unions cannot achieve anything by strikes
PS union leaders have to save their face, before everybody realize how weak they are
