I seem to remember a clarification issued by Govt that those who were not subject to the pension levy would not have to take the current cut.

I take it Anglo staff were not subject to the PL as they had their own private pensions scheme at the time.

However, now as State employees, paid by us, should they not have to take the same hit as their colleagues paid from the public purse? Will their pension be paid by us aswell as their salaries? Mad that.

I know literally NOTHING about this and i have to admit that it never even crossed my mind. Good catch.

So who will pay their pensions?

I don't know. Presumably if the taxpayer is paying their salary, the taxpayer will also pay future pensions - with a discount for the amounts already paid in privately maybe.

I may be totally wrong in my assumptions above, but if someone can clarify it that would be great.

Many Unionised workers have income continuence plans (in the event of serious illness) with their unions. To which the workers fully contribute themselves BTW. If you're suspended , you lose the lot.

You sound like my worst nightmare - someone who would like to undermine his/her colleagues attempt to protect their pay, and would take pleasure in trying to sabotage the union to which they belong.

Be honest with yourself and your colleagues. Leave the union.
Go fight your own battles on your own.
A huge number of members have left our union in the last six months. Reason being that the leadership are cowards. They've done little other than make us the laughing stock of the country. When they had a chance to make sure the levy and cuts were loaded towards the top end earners they failed miserably. The fact that cleaners take pay cuts is just sick.

I don't need to be honset with my colleagues because we are all in agreement. Most of us are only staying in the uniont to protect our income continuence plans.

Effectively the Union leaders allowed the goverment to shift the focus of public disgust from their buddies in the tent to public servants.

    .
Surely these 'income continuence plans' (salary protection) are with insurance companies?

I'm not sure. I always supposed they were a fund run by or on behalf the unions. I pay mine to the PSEU. I don't know what happens to it after that.

ICPs are with insurance companies. Discount for mass uptake presumably.

If you leave the Union, does your ICP lapse? Surely your contract is with the insurer.... but predicated on a membership of a union maybe. That would be the discount I'd hazard a guess.

But, Civil Service get 6 months full pay on sick leave (subject to Medical clearance I think) followed by 6 months on half pay. Then you get what you would have gotten if you retired early plus a few added years. What a feckin deal that is. Why would you need ICPs?

I think I met your brother years ago, he had consequences for anyone who didn't agree with him, tell me do you beat people up or have consequences become more PC these days.

If Collina is in a union she has a vote, and a union is supposed to be democratic, do ypu understand that word.

    Bully
