RTÉ News: Mulvey recommends pilots' pay cut
Pilots wont be too happy
It is a reality check - they can strike all they like but the reality is they'll just run the airline out of existence. The Government can't afford to nor will it step in to prop them up again other than facilitating its flogging off to another airline who will probably implement much greater cuts.
At least the TAILWINDS investment in Aer Lingus shares has increased recently![]()
Pilots pensions must be on a par with government Ministers. No wonder they are broke pay 21%.Regarding the airline's plan to revise its pension scheme, Mr Mulvey points out that if the pilots have conceded benefit reductions, Aer Lingus should continue to contribute 21% of salary to the pension scheme.![]()

I understand Mr.O'Leary lost 400M.
Now there's a number.
PS.They are back in profit in H2 I understand. However, arbitrator Kieran Mulvey has also recommended the establishment of a fund of up to €30m for productivity incentives for staff, though those funds would not be released until the airline returns to profitability.
Looks like that'll cover any losses by the pilots I expect.
O'Leary still down 400M and feck all to show for it.
Yawn......strike??? Who?? Where?? When?? Wha???

Aer Lingus expects small operating profit in H2 - MarketWatch
Why? Its their own money!the tailwind administrators should be in the same pit as Seanie
If you're logic is correct, O'Leary should be in the deepest pit of Hades.
He was playing with other peoples money.

Nope Aer Lingus will make a loss in H2 but they will make lots of adjustments into Exceptional items like the sacking of how many hundred is it now ?
Only €110 million was chucked away last year so expect something similar.
