    Bank governor believes inquiry likely

RTÉ News: Bank governor believes inquiry likely

The Governor of the Central Bank has said he believes there will be an inquiry into the causes of the recent crisis in the Irish banking system.

Speaking on 'The Week in Politics', to be broadcast tonight, Professor Patrick Honohan said he could not fully understand why the country's oldest banks fell into a trap where they could lose a lot of money.

He said current investigations under way into the banks are vigorous and he believes that nobody is trying to slow down that process.
Either govt. or opposition shown little interest. I thought CAB is looking at some affairs. looks like politics formed big stumble block for this.

It wont happen here, we are almost at the end of a bloodless coup. Soon FF will nationalise the banks, leaving FF running the banking system. FF will control the hotel sector also. FF control the government. Soon, they will have complete and total control of the country.

Law enforcement for white-collar crime in Ireland is unheard of. For any inquiry to be in any way meaningful, there must be the threat of a sanction at the end of it. Otherwise it is merely a history lesson.
Besides, enforcing the law for the sort of thing such an inquiry would cover would represent a massive break with tradition.

Isnt it a simple fact that a bunch of out of control idiots forgot that 1+1=2. What we need is for government to announce that present laws will be stricly enforced in all areas of financial services. The enforcement of those laws will uncover any corruption with no need to waste more money
