Either govt. or opposition shown little interest. I thought CAB is looking at some affairs. looks like politics formed big stumble block for this.
    Hopefully the Guvn'r is right.

Just occurs, could the political stumbling block have any link to the lack of comment on who exactly profited from the boom? I started another thread on that precise point. Presumably an enquiry might shine a torch on where, for example, the money spent on the Glass Bottle Factory site actually ended up. I mean, we've all heard about the Docklands Authority losing its shirt on its share of the purchase. We haven't heard at all what Dublin Port (for the sake of argument) did with its one third share of the proceeds earned by selling the site.

So, indeed, lets bring it on.
However, banks know they have a duty of care to their clients and I'm sure that this should prevent them lending irresponsibly.

Indeed, but I didn't post up as if I knew there was something wrong with it, you did.

If you know something, spit it out, if you don't, stop posting crap.

Do we have any real form of law-enforcement in this country at all?

Sometimes it feels like criminals run free, at every level of Irish society!

This is why we need a change of government, to end the quangos, end a few CS careers, shine light into the FF corruption and proscute the perpetrators and consequently why those green muppets keeping this farrago going should be taken out and shot.

I'd rather let the ****rds off the hook than enter into yet another fat-cat-pocket-lining tribunal.

You do know that NAMA is setting aside €2.4 BILLION in respect of legal and accountancy fees? Any tribunal cost is just a drop in the ocean compared to that.

Anyway it should not be a tribunal. A Dail inquiry or better still a court appointed inspector could do the trick. Instead of bailing out auditors and lawyers to the tune of €2.4 billion the inspector could hire 2400 people on €100k a year to do the investigation.

Bank Governor is living in clock cuckoo land. There will be no enquiry.

Most of the general public at this stage know what happened. Even if we found out that all banks, central banks, regulators and politicians were incompetent....what would happen ?

The exchequer would be down more money in legal fees etc.

We might even have to listen to Bertie again........No thanks

We have passed the stage where there is no significant difference in the minds of politicians whether we have a €100 billion national debt ot a €103 billion national debt. Get the money out there to the people that help finance Irish politics.

The scary thing is that the €2.4 billion will be paid by the Banks, who have no money.............so Bank customers will pay in higher mortgage rates and fees and will also get hit with further capitalisation from the exchequer

All the spin at the moment about businesses being more confident, turning corners, we are at the bottom, there will be recovery in Q2 2010, will all be used TO JUSTIFY MORTGAGE INTEREST RATE INCREASES. SO WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE.

A lot of the articles are published, carried out by STOCKBROKERS !!!
