Should Ireland Abandon the euro? - Please vote on this external IP Protected poll
Hello.
We are in financial trouble and our debts are spiralling out of control, Ireland along with other EuroZone Nations are unable to break free from recession because of the european single currency which is incredibly high against competitors like the US Dollar & Pound Sterling.
Greece and Ireland according to various reports may Leave the Euro Next Year, The consequences of this would be groundbreaking and possibly shake the whole structure of the European Union Monetary Policy.
Opponents are saying if it wasn't for the euro, we'd be like Iceland who suffered an economic implosion... Yet Iceland had only one bang and are on their way to fully recovering and their currency which is weaker is allowing them to grow healthily & Constructively under IMF Supervision/Guidance.
The Euro may have cushioned and Iceland style bang.... But it is harming members slowly and only causing great pain that is delaying recovery.
I personally would welcome back the Punt, it would enable us to control our own prices and would relate specifically to our own economic state.... The Euro was never going to be a Suitable Currency for all of Europe due to the completely different economic stages of each member which vary incredibly.
