Minister Hanafin says its OK!!! SW are now PROPERLY checking welfare claims!!!

Mary Hanafin on RTE radio this morning trying to put the taxpayer at ease as over the massive yearly Social Welfare Fraud going on in the country as highlighted in last nights prime time edition. Cost to the taxpayer reported to be upto €2Billion per year.

....but its ok, we shouldnt fret because the Minister says that her Dept are "now PROPERLY checking welfare claims".....really Mary!? Is that an admission that your Dept werent PROPERLY checking claims up until now !? And if thats the case, are we just supposed to accept this waste and incompatance once again or is anyone going to be accountable for that??

I'm sure the Minister will do the decent thing and resign

mary hanafin like all the rest of them only looking for numbers. The public want to be paid as quick as possible so there goes the control !Most people that sign on these days especially for jobseekers benefit dont even have to have a p45 as sw staff have been told pay!pay!pay!in my opinion its typical of this governments motto "worry about consequenses later" They apply this in almost every decision they make which is why we are wide open to fraud!

You can check as much as you like.

The problem is Ireland has a outdated system that cant cope for a borderless muliticulural society.

I was told by Welfare last November that my next signing date will be Jan 14th 2010.

So I dont have to sign for nearly 2 months! I could have fecked off abroad working or travelling if I wanted without any checks what so ever for 2 months!

If we want to fix anything we must remove FF first and install a government with new ideas and ways that can unite Ireland and fix our broken system.

Does the money go directly into dole recipients bank accounts?

It was interesting that she mentioned the introduction of photographic PPS cards in 2010. Are these only going to relate to newly issued PPS numbers or will we all have to get involved and get ourselves one?

I suppose this means that the length of time from a claim being made to receiving any money will go from four months to twelve.

It certainly can do,not sure if it does.. but it should

They could make it a requirement that there be 1 withdrawal per month from an ATM or POS in Ireland
