    You're all to blame

I usually try to be the voice of reason and of moderation. Okay, sometimes I have a little fun....

But the hatred that is now rippling through this forum with regard to the Public Sector and Private Sector "divide" is absolutely shocking. If we have nothing finer to say about our Country and our Country's people then why are we so aggitated? If it's not worth saving, it's not worth fighting over!

So I'm going to put forth another proposal. You are all to blame. I'm not though because I've been living abroad for years!

When things were going well you demanded nothing more from your politicians. Did you write to them? Did you email them? Did you arrange protests or meetings or invite them to events? Did you support them when they did something useful? You proposed nothing better than the status quo.

You were happy with a big house, big car, big job, big holiday, big debt and a big head. Words like "soft landing" gave assurance to the nervous. And "talking the country into a recession" was not to be tolerated.

You demanded no leadership. No vision. Happiness was measured by the size of the paypacket, the number of rooms in your house, the value of your house and the amount of money you spent on your last holiday.

And what of Hospital waiting lists, cost of living, education, sustainable competitive advantage, national infrastructure? Did these concern you? If so, why didn't you speak out? If not, why do they concern you now?

Foul play I hear you cry. What is the vision right now? That we might build up our economy so that we can commit the same follies of the past decade - more debt, more broken promises, more spent dreams. Where is the vision? Not with the politicians, not with the people, not with the Unions!

So stop arguing and consider it solved. Public Sector, Private Sector, Unions, Employers, Employed, Unemployed, Farmers, Business, Rich, Poor, Entrepreneurs, Social Welfare, Civil Service, Teachers, Gardai, Nurses, Consultants, Politicians, Political Parties, Left, Right, Middle, Taoiseach, Tanaiste, Seanadoirs, Ministers, Visitors, Immigrants, Citizens - you are all to blame.

I'm not though because I've been living abroad for years!

[SIZE=2]If I show you to be wrong, then what have I really achieved? If I convince you that I am right, then what difference does that make? I will accept a certain amount of blame, and I have lived pretty high on the hog on other peoples money for the past few years. But, I am paying it back, week by week, month by month, and have had to feel a little pain to do so. Which is why I'm annoyed at banks getting bailouts.

I pay my loans and my taxes, I'm entitled to complain.

I also predicted it was all going to go tits up, so I want credit for that too

OP, you are incorrect: anyone who voted FF during the fake boom is immeasurably more to blame than anyone who didn't.

I agree that in general terms people acted like idiots during that time and that da people deserve a massive share of blame. But if you acted like an idiot and voted FF, that's a double helping of blame on your shoulders.

I didn't have the first four and hence I don't have the fifth. Consequently I do have the sixth. Am I still to blame?
