White Elephant

I was walking up Kildare Street and out of the corner of my eye I spotted the Dail Eireann Tuck Shop.

It was staffed. They sell bottled water, crisps, chocolate etc...............

It only has 166 customers.

It pays a PS at least €40,000 per year.

IT COST €800,000 TO BUILD. IT IS A GLORIFIED CARAVAN.

Do they sell those Russian Doll sets of our illustrious leaders like you can buy of the Communist leaders when you travel to Eastern Europe? I can think of nothin more fun than opening up Charles Haughey and low and behold out pops Bertie Ahern.

They have a bloody restaurant, Dail bar, and a gym.

BIFFO survives on Guinness & Pub Crisps
and maybe one or twenty others

It's also made entirely of glass. In the Summer, those choclate bars can't be left on display because they melt. It sounds like a joke but it's true.

Lol at the comments on this thread I can just imagine your face when you spotted the tuck shop out of the corner of your eye .It has got to the point things are so ridiculous in this country you either have to laugh or cry.

THE final cost of the Dail's new shop has risen to a staggering €1.3m, according to figures obtained by the Irish Independent.
The glass-framed kiosk shop at the main gate of Leinster House on Kildare Street amounts to roughly 40sq m (431sq ft) in size, and must surely rank as the most expensive tuck shop ever built in Ireland.
