I would have liked to see the strikes called off, its just adding to the pressure on the Government, enough pressure is coming from the flooding so now is not the time to be adding more. Its a bad call on behalf of the trade unions, having strike action diverted in the flooded areas is not enough as a strike is a strike.

One benefit I may as well add, tomorrow I can drive my untaxed jeep without worry.

Unions are part of the capitalist superstructure.

Good luck...but youd have better luck outside and against the Unions.

So now Unions are capitalist??! I give up on politics. If trade unions are now under suspicion of being implements of the bosses to keep the plebs in line, why do I even bother to get out of bed in the morning? It's getting ridiculous.
IBEC are actually socialists tricking you into hating employers. (why not!)

the unions have been in bed with the government and the other "social partners" for years. What about a union for the ordinary PAYE private sector employee? We need one most but instead the unions represent a very well paid, unfireable, great pension public sector who are more than happy to see the private sector employee get it up the arse.
"the view that a natural father who is caring for his children in such circumstances has absolutely no constitutional rights or protection in respect of his relationship with his children, and must accept the few crumbs that fall from the table of statutory protection, is increasingly untenable."

Maybe the strikers can figure out how the government can continue spending in excess of 50 billion on an income of 30 billion on their day off.

It's crass words from advocates of a "race to the bottom" like that spur many of us on.

I don't hope you lose your job and I don't hope you have to take a pay cut, I don't know why you wish ill on others.

Off to the picket now so best of luck all!

Yeah if I were Union Heads I'd have postponed this as well. There's a real chance that if the flooding gets worse in some areas that a good photo of that will lead the papers tomorrow as opposed to the strikes. The fact that some of the strikers will likely stay home to deal with flood fallout may reduce the numbers involved as well. Plus the positive PR of putting the country first in an emergency would have helped the unions no end in what is an unpopular strike.

But stay safe, enjoy the pickets, hope it goes well for ye.
