Probably didn`t know that question was on the way...........

If I hear one more mention of pension levy being a wage cut. Its not its a pension levy. Same way when they increased health levy I didn`t treat it as a pay cut, I looked upon it as an extra TAX.

    7% PENSION LEVY
    7% PAY CUT
-14% ADJUSTMENT, ADDING BACK ANNUAL INCREMENTS AND COMPARING WITH DEFLATION.

    We are doing ok !!

I mentioed this in an earlier thread, but considering the low number of jovs about the place, if I was an employer and had two candidates of equal experience, one a ps, one from the private sector, I'd be looking at the 80 or 90% that voted in favour of strike action and hedging my bets that the ps candidate was one of them.

    Guess who gets the job!!
    Progressive and fair taxation = 2012 Merc e250 elegance purchase price/value €47,910 Road Tax:- €156 2005 vw passat 1.9L diesel price/value €8000, Road Tax :- €582

I can safely say I would do there job and work twice as hard for half the pay.

I nearly made it into a hospital maintenance position after I lost my job, attended the interview, was sure I made it, I got a letter of response, sorry moratorium on all hiring, we'll contact you etc etc

If I did happen to get a letter from the hospital any time soon, I would have to turn it down as a result of the last few days, flooding still strike?, party all night and send everyone up north and want more strikes?, not the kind of people I would enjoy mixing with.

If the government had balls they'd cut about 10% of the PS workforce, yes services would get worse but so wha- that's life.

They also get tax relief on the pension so in essence its a 3%-4% reduction and not 7% as they like to misinform people.
Tax reduction depends also on the contribution and their tax band, at the end of their tax year they will get a refund.

The funniest was the low paid worker on frontline saying the PS shouldn't get cuts, when Pat Kenny asked her how the government should save the money, she replied " I don't know".

That sums them up - they don't know how to save the money.

We should have ended the unions during the boom years and then we'd have a flexible force today, paid what we can afford.

A lot of that had to be repatriated by American multinationals. In fact, economists say that 25% of our GDP is repatriated multinational profits.

You clearly don't even understand where unions come from or what they are. Unions are not gifts from the Government. They are organised and formed by workers who are not cowards.

If you feel like you need a union, you form one. It's not too hard.

Any other prejudices you hold which you'd like me to explain away?

I suppose on this next PS strike they will be picketing the hospitals and the hospices for the dying again.

I would urge any member of the public who sees these disgusting trade union tactics being employed to let the picketers know how wrong and reprehensibly they are behaving
