Iīm saying absolutely nothing - you are the one who found some figures and drew a conclusion which you saw fit to post here. I was merely pointing out that there are alternative explanations.

I think the point is being missed here. People who first arrived in Ireland and claimed a PPS No. this year will not be claiming benefits. It is the fact that they are working here that is the problem.

I was in a Spar just off Grafton St. yesterday and all 5 staff were Indian/Pakistani.Don't get me wrong they are unfailingly polite and hardworking people but surely at this point in time we must not renew visas for these people and not allow more low skilled Indian/Pakistani/non-EU people into Ireland during a time when so many of our own low skilled people and students are unable to find work.

Do you think the Spanish and French taxpayers should be told how much all those retirees are costing their Health Service??

Many of these "pakistanis/Indians " are in fact British citizens, and hold E.U residency.
Our Government are hoping Irish Youth will emigrate to look for work, to keep unemployment figures down. They too will meet racist attitudes (not referring to you). Many will get a culture shock, when they will find themselves being treated like they themselves treated the Poles, the Chinese, and the Africans.

If they have worked in Ireland in the last 2 years and paid taxes, they're bloody entitled to social welfare. However if they are only getting their PPS this year, we can assume they have not worked in Ireland prior to this.
I doubt many, if any of those 70'000 are entitled to benefits. If they paid sufficient taxes in other E.U countries, and worked in the relevant tax years maybe. But that is a legal right in the E.U.

Any person in the State is entitled to Social Welfare if a SW Officer deems them to be in need.

How do you think the Roma(EU Citizens) scammers gangs get the houses otherwise?

I can only assume the scammers got in when we were pretending to ourselves we were all millionaires.
I know for a fact to get, the dole TODAY, you need to have proof of residence, meet the criteria of habitual residents, show that you have paid taxes in the relevant years in Ireland or in the E.U, supply data of your tax history outside Ireland, then wait maybe 6 months for referral and interview, and then still probably get refused, whilst you wait another few months for appeal.
    Non E.U citizens can fuggetaboutit!!!
