Retail Sales are down 14.8% in September

Figures just released from the CSO show that the retail sector continues to collapse.

Sales are now down 7% from 2005 levels. In a nation has been geared around 6% year on year growth, thats 30% off from where they should be.

What do you think they'll be like after the government takes €4Bn out of the economy?

Coming from a household where we are almost €1000 pm down because of jealousy levies, and now facing further pay cuts - what can I say to this news..........

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha .......oh dear me, excuse me while I go and wrap all the Christmas presents I just bought on eBay and Amazon for one tenth of the price of buying them in town, and I didn't even have to pay petrol or parking costs.

Now where can I get my groceries on line at NI prices??????????

Choice is wonderfull is'nt it To be able to shop around, get your services and goods at a price you find agreeable, part of the reason why we have 6.5% deflation IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR ECONOMY, long may it continue!!
    Progressive and fair taxation = 2012 Merc e250 elegance purchase price/value €47,910 Road Tax:- €156 2005 vw passat 1.9L diesel price/value €8000, Road Tax :- €582

In a mad way had the government actually paid the Christmas bonus this year it would have acted as small stimulus injecting Millions into the retail sector and further boosting the economy.

Add that to a VAT cut comparable to that in the UK and we could have had a boost to the economy this Christmas.

But I guess the government dont want that, they would rather return us to the potato famine days, Where JOD could tide around on a horse looking at the poor.

Good man. Aid the decline of the real economy and in doing so help bring about even more pressure to cut your pay, benefits, and maybe even your job! What a clever fellow you are.

SOD OFF.....Cato....I made the "patriotic" choice to shop locally...till the girls WORKING in the shop told me of the prices I could get by shopping up north!!

Some of us have no choice but to look for the best bang for our buck!!

Well we have decided to shop local this Xmas. We did cost the stuff up the North but for the savings it wasn't worth not giving the business to the locals. They are really trying to beat the competition.

And how much extra retail space is there since 2005, I wonder.
