Please explain to me what you mean by that. My post reflects what my opinion is of beautiful east European women and how their permanent presence here would benefit our future population. How is this a “base” desire?

Very irresponsible comments from the mayor. Ireland needs a sensible immigration policy but public officals making strong statements like this is a disgrace, all it does is stoke racism. Rounding people up and sending them home is not viable. I wonder if the mayor or those who support him would have a problem with all the undocumented Irish in the US being rounded up, or Irish people on unemployment benefits in the UK being sent home?

i think any EU national that is convicted of serious crime in this country should be deported back to their own country and banned from ever entering this country again. it would free up space in our prisons and get shot of scumbags, and save us all alot of money at the same time.

We dont control stuff like that any more , as Im sure Mayor Kiely knows well . That kind of talk may win a few votes from simpletons but its an insult to the intelligence of the rest of us .
A few weeks ago the dope was telling everyone vote yes to Lisbon . Does he even know what the EU means ?

Mayor of Limerick: "Send home jobless nationals"

    Mayor Kevin Kiely

    Published Date: 11 November 2009

THE Mayor of Limerick, Cllr Kevin Kiely, has called for the deportation of EU-nationals who have failed to secure employment since their arrival here.
"I'm calling for anybody who is living in the State and who can't afford to pay for themselves to be deported after three months. We are borrowing €400 million per week to maintain our own residents and we can't afford it," the outspoken politician said this Wednesday.

"During the good times it was grand but we can't afford the current situation unless the EU is willing to step in and pay for non-nationals," he said

The president of the Irish-Polish Cultural and Business Association, Pat O'Sullivan, has called on the Mayor to withdraw his comments. "I am shocked, I am taken aback by those comments and it is shocking and dangerous talk," he said.

"EU nationals have a legal right to be here and calling for them to be deported shows an extraordinary lack of understanding of our place in Europe and how the world views us as a people," he added.

Mayor Kiely has denied his comments amount to racism.

"I'm not racist but it is very simple, we can't continue to borrow €400 million a week and the Government has to pull a halt and say enough is enough unless the EU intervenes and pays some sort of a subvention," he insisted.
    Fair balls to Mayor Kiely!

Another 60,000 + non Nationals have arrived here this year already.

yup, your right. we dont control anything anymore, although it has to be said we never controlled immigration anyway but after the lisbon treaty there's not really any point in even discussing thses issues as we are powerless. we might aswell kick back and watch this country get worse and worse day by day cause that is surely whats going to happen. and all for imaginary jobs ha, i hate this country.

This whole thread is based on a mis-quote. The Mayor didn't ask for the deportation of EU nationals. He asked for the deportation of unemployed EU nationals. Why can't even the most racist posters see that?
A P.ie moderator stated this on June 25th 2010: P.ie tolerates very broad free speech, and thus allows sectarian bigotry etc

Thats neither here nor there , EU laws dont differentiate between EU citizens and 'unemployed' EU citizens . We are all EU citizens , for better or worse , thanks largely and ironically to Mayor Kielys party.

So you think the Mayor's suggestion that all unemployed EU citizens as against all EU citizens is the same thing? I don't think so. I have never come across a single honest argument by racists that doesn't obfuscate what was said by a given individual. Racists deliberately misconstrue statistics to suit their ignorance.
