    Anybody on this forum willing to give a job to a graduate (Msc) in science?

    There are tons of science jobs in the states for graduates. Try and check England too. You need to look at private sector now. Its very bleak here for science grads with masters and PhDs in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Even though there is a so called knowledge based economy being promoted. There will be more cuts coming soon in the next budget and it doesnt look good since taxpayers bailed out way more money to Anglo Irish this year. Sorry I cant give you a better reply.

    As per my OP from 2.5 years back - my primary concern about the recession was youth unemployment

    On a simple level: the State has invested hundreds of thousands of Euro in each youth...and if these youth are unemployed for a length, their employment prospects are permanently altered for the worse. As Robert Reich has noted, in the globalised era, human capital remains "sticky" and is the thing a fiscally prudent nation state should tend to. Yet no action...instead cosseted PS unions being fawned over.
