Considering GS got money pushing CDS and subprime on the way up, then dropped the bomb and threatened civil war unless the US bailed out AIG so as AIG could pay GS. I see no credance in your writings. Have you any proof to your crazy drivilings. You sound like the disbelieving parent of a child that has been a victim of clerical abuse pre-1990. Or maybe you work for them?
Of course they paid back their bailout with a little High Frequency Trading (micro-second market manipulation). These guys have the same business model as scientology. Fork over everything for thin air and brain washing. If anyone quips - send in the sharks (I mean lawyers).

Liam, you are not an idiot so stop pretending to be. The 10 billion is crumbs
The wagers they had on derivatives are in the hundreds and thousands of billions. They were all losers as the counterparty could not settle. They could not settle because the bets were absolutely hare-brained to begin with.
That is why the ceo of Goldman was the US Secretary of the Treasury. He got Congress to bailout the cretins who took the donkey side of the trades. Do you think Paulson who earned 600 million bucks took the sucky job because he needed a 160000 dollar a year salary.
You are either pulling the piss and acting dumb or else you are a sock puppet for a real dummy like Tommy O Brien or HBAP
There was a subprime market, simple as that. If it was not GS then it would have been another investment bank house. The reason the subprime market was so great was because people got the mad idea that everyone was ENTITLED to their own home no matter how low their income. No one forced people earning minimum wage to take out mortgages. It is no surprise that huge numbers began to default. That was the cause of the crisis not the nefarious (venture) capitalists.

Sorry Liam, you either taking the p*ss or stupid. Both ways I do not have time for this pointless debate.

I seem to remember Burger king forcing their employees to take unpaid breaks when they were not needed, they had to sit in the staffroom and wait to be called. An employee could work for 1/4 hour then be told to sit down, I stopped using burger king at this point, even though they were made to change their ways.
I am happy within the democratic capitalist west, but workers must be protected and large companies are not gods. It seems to me that most people are talking out of their holes on here if they believe that BK employees are not being mistreated. If you work, you should be respected, otherwise its a race to the bottom.
At the same time we need to reward those that create and manage jobs, but we don't need to put our social mores in their hands and we have an obligation to intervene with companies in psychosis.
