From now on I'm never leaving home without a few eggs in my pocket, just in case I feel the need to make some sort of point.
Nothing will motivate the lazy / apathetic / Americanised / west-British types to embrace their culture and the Irish language.

Even excluding the egg thrower much of the audience interaction was of low quality: name calling etc ... the level of political debate in this country is going down the toilet ... and at the worst time too.

You are clueless too. The woman who talked about the trainwreck coming knows the score.

First post here and possibly last. I don't post on Internet boards too often. I'm the guy who egged Frank Fahey last night. Generally I just keep my head down.

Anyone who was there last night can tell you how feeble Fahey's and Boyle's arguments were. Boyle was very arrogant. He was also glib, cavalier and ignorant of even the rudimentary implications of NAMA.

I egged Fahey because I believe he is dishonest and has a vested interest in seeing NAMA go through. Someone here posted that I spoke in a "stream on consciousness style monologue". That's your opinion. I feel I made some good points and asked some pertinent questions. 2 main points:

    1. The real cost of NAMA is the overhang it will lead to
    2. I asked Fahey if he would advise a young couple to go and buy a house now. He said that yes he would.

In my opinion he's either speaking out of gross naivety or malicious self-interest. I can't believe that he is naive, so that leaves believing that he is a malicious, self-serving crook. His history as minister for Marine and Natural Resources (can't remember exactly if that was the name of the portfolio) is what leads me to believe he is dishonest.

I did not apologise afterwards as some people here have suggested. I really want to emphasise this. Fahey came over briefly, I told him to his face that I believed he was a dishonest person. Yes, I did shake his hand because I meant him no physical harm. Perhaps this seems strange to some people. Given the opportunity again I may not have shaken his hand. I don't know. This is not something (throwing eggs at politicians) I've ever done before and when Fahey came over and extended his hand instinct took over on my part. Funny how that happens. I any case I meant him no physical harm. I don't believe in Jackboots or assaulting your enemies, but I did not apologise to him.

Initially I had no intention of egging Boyle. However, given his arrogance and cavalier attitude I felt he deserved it. He did say amongst other things: "I don't care if NAMA makes a loss"... "I didn't write it [the NAMA document] anyway..." In any case I missed Boyle. Ironic considering the fact that he presented a rather large target!

Typically I would never do this kind of thing. Two people have posted comments that sum-up why I did this:

Thank you to the people who posted these comments. You understand exactly why I did this. I think I'm a modest person, but I feel I'm not boasting when I say it took a little bit of courage to do what I did last night. When a person like me resorts to throwing eggs at politicians then something really is rotten in the state of Denmark. I also lost out through my actions because I knew I'd be ejected, and I would really have liked to ask Peter Matthews and Margaret Ward some questions. There was also a middle-aged lady in the audience who spoke about currency creation and I really wanted to speak with her afterwards, too. I accepted this loss for the sake of making a stand.

For the record I'm not a member of any political party or organisation. I'm not a socialist or activist of any kind. I'm simply someone who feels enough is enough. My unborn kids will have to endure poorer services than they should have available to them because of the overhang NAMA will lead to. At least I tried to make a point.

Finally, I think someone suggested that I egged Peter Matthews. This is absolutely not the case. I have a great deal of admiration for Peter Matthews and would not do such a thing to an honest person, and anyway I'm fully in agreement with his views.

That's probably all I'm going to say about this. All the best to everyone

    Well done !!

Dont feel bad about throwing eggs you are in good company, it is an age old tradition dating back to Roman times. Mainly used as a form of protest against criminals, bad acting in theatres, and useless politicians (criminals).

I've heard that Boyle is the driving force in the Greens behind NAMA, so to hear that he has been publicly exposed as completely clueless but unshakeably confident ought to terrify any decent members of the party. Please change your mind on NAMA.
Fahey we already know is worthless. 40 Gaffs is so desperate to get NAMA through he would regard an egg as a small price to pay.
The egging was wrong - telling them to their faces what you think of them would be enough. But lets put it in context. If an ordinary person tried to rob €20 Billion from banks/developers/politicians he would probably be shot dead.
When the reverse occurs 2 eggs are thrown. Really it is not something that deserves further comment.

Well done to those who organised and attended the debate.
Can anyone give further details of the proceedings?

You just happen to carry eggs around in your pocket ? Also given your poor aim you could easily have hit him in the eye , which could have caused serious harm

Your comments were of low quality and you are evidently quite dim/disturbed

Mathews and Ward made some good points against Nama, you simply made a point against yourself

I was there. Fair play to you. And your point was excellent. All the points were. Brillant debate. We need more of this outside the ivory towers of Donnybrook.

Boyle was not exposed as clueless, the confused chimpanhuman enough_is_enough made that claim

Boyle did say he didn't mind if Nama made a small loss and that he thought the projected size of the profits were fanciful/optimistic ... but that overall the benefits of restoring confidence would outweigh the small loss

As I said earlier the level of discourse is going down... opposing/critiquing Nama you've some excellent people : Karl Whelan, Mathews etc... but there's a horde of numptie barbarians just out for blood, they are drowning out worthwhile debate

Another person who felt Boyle was clueless Cyberianpan.
    What were Boyle's weakest responses?

Well most people in this country would reckon it is ff and now the yellow -formerly green- party, that has taken Irish politics down the toilet and dragged it's name in the gutter.

Or perhaps you believe the tribunal revelations, the expenses, the complete utterly inept gobsh*te ministers, the promotion of theives to high political office, the arrogance displayed in bailing out specialist banks and developer supporters resulting in the taxpayer being liable for the billions has not dragged the name of Irish politics so low, that the sane non-grassroot inbred people see ff as the equivalent of overfed pigs gourging themselves in pigswill at the expense of the ordinary decent poeple of this country.

I think ffers are damm lucky, if they didn't have the meek and indifferent Irish as their constituents some of them and their sponsors might be swinging from lampposts by now.
