    The dollar collapse thread

This is intended to be a wide-ranging thread about what many people believe will be the major financial event of the 21st century: the end of the US national currency as the world's default currency.

This will have massive ramifications for Ireland if it occurs, possibly more so than for any other EU nation.

Some may deny that the dollar will collapse. Let's hear from you.

Will the Euro stay as high as it is in relation to the rest of the world if the US dollar falls? Why?

The world will still need a unit of trade. Will it be a basket of commodities like gold or oil or will it be a currency like the Euro?
When you see the words "Mises" or "Hayek" in someone's post, just ask yourself: do I really want to ban paper money and go back to gold?

You have to pity the kind of people who buy into conspiracy theories. I find the following to be the saddest words on the internet: "Re: connection between Bilderberg puppet lady gaga and viral outbreak in ukraine "

There is talk of some OPEC countries to challenge the Petro Dollar and to sell oil in euros. Also China is thinking of changing its Dollar reserves to Euros. Since the US heavily borrows dollars from China it would mean another kick into the teeth for america.

    Of course it will..

Watched Syriana last night .. good movie.. probably needs a few more viewings to fully understand whats happening .. but the "good Prince character" made a very good point

"When a country with 4% of the worlds population, account for 50% of the worlds military spending .. then they've lost their powers of persuasion."

There is no doubt, that if any of the other world powers .. this would include China, Russia or the EU collectively (guided by a strong Germany), were to flex their fiscal muscles in relation to the dollar.. they could and would effectively bankrupt the US

No one in their right mind would consider Jerome Corsi a liberal or a leftist. Corsi received a Ph.D. from Harvard University in political science in 1972 and has written many books and articles, including co-authoring with John O'Neill the No. 1 New York Times best seller "Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry."

By 2010, the integration of Mexico, Canada and the U.S. will be almost complete. Congress and the media will not know what happened. Americans will be as clueless as ever; thanks to the complicity of the brain-dead media, the triumph of a bloodless bureaucratic elitist coup will become a reality, or close to it.

    July 4, 2006
Jerome Corsi conducted an excellent investigation into the upcoming "North American Union." Corsi broke ground that the mainstream media continue to ignore. With respect to border issues, illegal immigration, U.S. trade policy, national security and the integrity of the nation-state of America, his conclusions are ominous.

In an interview with CNBC, a vice president for a prominent London investment firm yesterday urged a move away from the dollar to the "amero," a coming North American currency, he said, that "will have a big impact on everybody's life, in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico."

There have been conferences, academic papers, mock student parliaments and secret meetings on a confederation of the U.S., Canada and Mexico into future North American Union, but, until now, few officials of any of the three countries have publicly called for the creation of a European Union-style merger.

Funny, that's the first time anyone has quoted WorldNetDaily (with a straight face) since the 'tuters ran away home to their mammies.

The Revelations fans among you will be delighted/terrified to know that Gold is currently buying 666 US$. Up over 23% on a year ago, and about 100% for the decade.

The dollar will collapse when the world sees fit to collapse it. Thats the logical answer.

Globalisation is deceptive. Though it seems that China and the EU are the muscle guys in the room, they really exist on US spending.
They are not fat Americans because they are frugal, right?

Its American $$$ being recycled (US to China/Japan/EU to US) into American banks that fund their debt, the only way to stop that is to refuse dollars and demand trade in goods, which the US can do too, only China/Japan/EU loses all its jobs and gets mad.

Trade in currency is actually how we non-Americans are profiting not how 'we will tear down the beast'.

Without US$'s we go broke not them.

And the lower the dollar goes then the more we are hurt, not them. They win on both ends because we want a strong $ and so fund their spending by buying their debt, they win on the low $ because we send back those $ and they simply carry on as before only with lower deficits.
Their companies make lots of profit, making things in cheaper nations and then either selling to the cheap nation or selling to rich Americans.

Its in the political arena that they are weak, and thats all Bush's fault.
There are no guilty in jail.

Is anyone predicting a collapse of the euro?
Oh please oh please oh please.
We're paying for our house in euro, while I nip over the border on a daily basis and get paid in the Queen's Shilling.
If there is a future, it will be Green.
