Limit all state pensions to 36,000 Euro a year. That's still a huge amount. Simple. Will it happen though?

Hmm. If I stay until I'm 65 I'll get less than a quarter of that. Or would have - my pension money has paid for the private sector and banking madness.

Yes, in many cases we are.

But why do we do it? If we had said, say to Molloy - "Yes the Attorney General feels you might have a case. But, you know what? Feel free to take it. And by the way we will defend it every step of the way, right to Supreme Court and beyond into EU. And we will delay and obfuscate every step of the way as well. So if you win, you might get your payoff in 10 or 15 years. But you will worry every day of your life as to whether you can afford to pay the legal bills if you lose"

Would he take the State on? I doubt it. Not a nice way to spend your retirement (especially if the Govt demanded and got that each party lodge a sum up front in court against an adverse result.
