This would not pay for too many public servants
Exactly, which is why the government has to borrow 400m per week and why PS salaries must reduce. Tax will also need to increase but it needs to rebalance.

    Lets start with this:

In fact, there are more than 800 quangos operating in Ireland, one for every 5,000 people. The current government is particularly fond of them — up to half of these unelected agencies have been created in the past 10 years.
    National Children’s Advisory Council ??! affordablehomes.ie ?!?! homechoiceloan.ie ?!?!

Time to get out the axe.

Kevin Kelly, head of the Combat Poverty Agency, defended its existence: “We’re different from other groups in that we’re not a single issue organisation. We’re not coming at tackling poverty from an ideological perspective. We consider poverty at a broad level that considers complexities and dynamics. We provide independent evidence-based advice, that is not influenced by existing policy boundaries.”
Charities do much better work then these tools handing out reports.

What is the rush?” demanded Damien Peelo, the director of the Irish Traveller Movement, angry at the proposal to merge the Equality Authority, the Equality Tribunal, the Human Rights Commission and the Data Protection Commissioner.
There is a few more for children and equality that all can be merged into one with the minimal amount needed.

A focus on trees, forests and countryside quangos...the joy. There is Coillte, for a start, and the people at COFORD, which is the National Council for Forest Research and Development, not to mention Comhairle na Tuaithe (the Countryside Council).

Lets not forget about our fish...
An Bord Iascaigh Mhara (Irish Sea Fisheries Board), eight separate regional fisheries boards, eight fisheries co-op societies, a Sea Fisheries Protection Authority, a Marine Institute, an Aquacultural Licensing Appeals Board and a National Salmon Commission.

    wtf is that doing now?!

    What next for 2010?

    Berties Retirement Fund Agency
    Biffos Big Drink Board
    Harneys Fat People Awareness Agency
M Martins Free Smoke Zone Appreciation Agency

what about the county council problem?

do people think there is a need for all the county councils in Ireland?

why not merge some of them to save on costs.

merge Monaghan- Cavan, Louth- Meath, have one Dublin Council, Merge both tipperarys, merge Donegal and Sligo, etc...

what about council staff go on a 3 day week? i believe they done this in 1983 and84 in monaghan county council

it sickens me to hear stories of monaghan county council staff playing cards all day to keep themselves busy.

will be see any cuts here?

WHA! 22 billion black hole, the wastehmeath county council, has just earmarked 4million for an art gallery that nobody wants, but then again all the party faithful attended the opening celebrations for the new dole offices which are on a lease from a private operator, but then when the justice department are leasing the new central courts building, courtesy of prison field Mc do well, the Question is? How much of a liability in lease agreements has this government left future generations, apart from this proposed Nama debt. I think there needs to be a list compiled before this Nama is signed.
