"The land and banking oligarchy" - classic turn of phrase from McWilliams

McWilliams has I believe coined a classic, pithy, descriptive, and above all accurate turn of phrase in Wednesday's column in the Independent, which in my opinion merits its own thread. I think he should be forgiven for all the "Pope's children" guff in his earlier material.

I think this phrase should be worked into everyday conversation as often as possible.

    Some examples:

If someone asks you over a cup of coffee at work what your take is on NAMA, I suggest responding with:

"NAMA? Oh yes, the bailout scheme for the land and banking oligarchy."

If a drinking buddy asks you how you plan to vote in the next elections, then why not respond with something along the lines of:

"Well, I won't vote for any of the land and banking oligarchy parties anyway !"

That kind of thing. If it catches on, slowly but surely the masses will get it.

You don't have any drinking buddies, do you?

At least he does not drink with FF, unlike yourself. Better to have no buddies than to have sneaky ones.

As a Fianna Failer, men to get pissed drunk with is not something you are short of.

I wonder will he admit to getting his 5 cats drunk on one of his 6 pack of dutch gold every night?

Digout you're not actually the worst, in spite of what the FF'rs say about you. Fancy a pint? I seem to be free every single night next week, which is very unusual for me.

Dont worry, FFers hate me, I know why. Yeah, pint seems like a good idea.

tricky enough to say that even before a few pints. How about " I won't vote for any of the speculators and bankster leechs"?
    Hmm, even that's too long.

Surely Cael of P.ie must be recognised as the original coiner of this phrase...
