For what its worth I would say Murphy will top the poll ahead of Creighton and followed in by R.Quinn closely. Then the last seat will be between Kevin H and Gormley and FF.

I am not sure which Fianna Failer that will be because if FF run one it will have to be Andrews and if they run two and it is Jim and Andrews then I think Jim will win it. If FF run two and those two are Andrews and Ryan I would say Ryan will win.

That said Andrews has been cultivating a fair enough profile and you wont hear me saying these positive things again (god forbid) but the public meeting he organised was a very good idea on an issue important to leafy suburb voters and he has the posters up. I also spoke to a friend who was at the meeting and i was told the room was packed and it was said that it was a good meeting.(now thats the last positive thing i will say about Andrews!!)

While Ryan would beat Andrews I dont think he would run. I just think he hasnt got the heart for it anymore. He would have to put in a huge amount of work and as we have seen he is not to keen on that.

Eoin Ryan will not be returning to National politics. Its the Commission or back to Business.

FF should run 2 candidates, on the proviso that O'Callaghan is the second candidate. He might potentially be able to siphon off enough of the old McD vote to stop FG getting a second seat. The question is does he want to run. He has won his council seat and maybe it is better in the long term if he keeps his powder dry and waits for the election after that.

Interesting Analysis from the FF perspective.

We of course have not yet had our Selection Convention though I suspect there will be a contest for the two places between some very good choices. I of course know what my choice will be.

I think Labour can win two. FG can also win two and you know you could be right Eoghan Murphy could do well at Lucindas expense.

Andrews or O'Callaghan hard to call that one - though I think i would tip Jim to pip Chris.

Can John Gormely hold on - i think he can - though I know I am among only a few saying that.

Anyway in my view there will not be an Election - General Election that is - until early, possibly May 2010.

[QUOTE=joemomma;2232652]As far as I know that's not correct. I think you're thinking of the European Parliament.

I confirm TDs have to postively claim the turning up money. There is no signing in system so there is no way it could be paid automatically as the Dail Accounts department would not know how many days TDs were in.

The claim form (which I have seen) only asks for the no of days they are claiming and the period coverered by the claim.

They don't have to give the exact dates so there is no way the claim can be verified. I am not suggesting anything suspect about DSE claims merely stating that the system is open to abuse and a TD could be out of the country on a particular day but still claim for it including it the total of days which is all they have to fill out on the claim form.

I doubt FG will get the 40% needed to get 2 seats (They only got about 28% in the Locals), Labour may get 2 seats from GP and SF transfers. With The Final Seat Going To either Andrews or Callaghan.

Quite simply it is too early to call. the ony certainty is RQ provided he runs of course after that all the other permutations are possible.
