You might want to seek professional advice if it is for investment purposes. There is talk about the market having peaked.
If you are a first time buyer you could log on to the relevent local authority website and check out their affordable housing scheme. I saw an Affordable Housing Initiative advertised in the newspaper the other day - closing date is sometime this month.
