Not exactly exhaustive. I may be reading and watching the wrong things, but all I've seen so far is a documentary very, very late at night comparing this office to London's mayor, and there's hardly any talk in public - outside of this site - of prospective candidates.

I have not seen that and wonder would you have any details - thanks.

There was an article last wednesday or Thursday in the Evening herald on the topic. I do not know how to put that up on site but perhaps someone else might.

Just to be clear, the holding of the title "Lord Mayor of the City of Dublin" for 1 year, no matter how well you carried out your duties, in no way whatsoever qualifies you for this new post. We need to look beyond a few Dublin City Councillors, if even for the simple reason that the jurisdiction is different.

I'd rather have a proven business leader in this post as elected CEO of my city than a Councillor whose brief is to serve the very local needs of very local people.

Cllr may argue this point and I hope he will and in the process of doing so between now and the nominations/election processes themselves, tease out the pertinent issues and respective positions.
We need to radically change every system that has enabled the wholesale destruction of the Irish landscape, rural and urban. There is no time for incremental step by step measures. The systems have failed utterly and the only hope for a real recovery requires the rule book to be torn up completely.

and before he says it himself, I don't think cllr would appreciate being put in the same bracket as that Royston clown.

Alonso, first of all thank you for your clarification regarding the other former Lord Mayor referred too.
I think you confuse the role fo the Mayor when you liken it ot a CEO. It is a Political post of authority and leadership. I do believe that I have demonstrated such abilities and in relation to any specific issues would be happy to tease them out on this site or elsewhere.

Sorry all I know is it aired in the early summer, featured interviews with Ken Livingstone and basically reviews how this position could increase Dublin's place on the world stage, as the position Mayor of London apparently has done too.

As for alonso's comparison to it being a CEO, I agree that someone with experience in running a large business would be just as suitable as a person who has served as a councillor effectively for x amount of years. It is always down to the candidate though.

I'm sorry Cllr, but who are you? I'm just asking as a potential voter, if you're throwing your hat into the ring, just like to do a bit of research!
