Well I suspect Eoghan Murphy may have attracted a larger non-party vote than the Labour candidates which may have led to this outcome. He may have gotten a youth vote that didn't transfer.

Well done to all the candidates elected (including you Cllr)!

The only reason that FG were on 34.2 per cent is because of Murphy. There's no way that FG could have managed that back to Wynne or McCartan.

FG could not have called Murphy absolutely dominating the election and coming home on the first count and, in any case, it would have been impossible to migrate a Murphy vote to McCartan in any case.

Amazing achievement by Labour to manage the vote so tightly to squeeze in three seats.

    Congratulations to Cllr and Co.

The collapse of the FF vote, especially Donnelly, is incredible.. his vote is down from 1389 in 2004 to 134 in 2009!

According to this RTÉ News: Elections 2009 - Pembroke-Rathmines LEA

He got 1,384 first preferences. So a fall of 5 votes compared to 2004, and he got more votes than either of his FF running mates.

As to the FG result; a well deserved Wynne!

In fairness, the ward almost doubled in size.

I shouldn't take ElectionsIreland.org: Michael Donnelly at face value obviously.. my bad.

Thanks to everyone for their kind comments. I hope people will now believe me in future when I make comments about the likely votes I was to get. P-R is not exactly a typical Labour stronghold and I was always concerned at this and at the FG strength.

My big surprise is Paddy Mc's loss and I am genuinely sorry for him and Michael Donelly.

Congratulations to all my new colleages on the City Council and I look forward to working with you all for a better Dublin.

What accounts for Eoghan Murphy's result. He is a first-time candidate, photogenic, youthful. Did he have family connections? Who were his team?
