Interesting, Cllr but why would they put Jim on the ticket if they are only going for 2 seats? Donnelly is in Rathmines.Tubridy is in Pembroke. They would provide a balance between Old/Young , new/experienced, Pembroke/Rathmines etc. What does Jim add to the ticket in that conext? Jim will take some votes off both Donnelly and Tubridy but could do more damage than good as his transfers last time to Donnelly were very poor. Why not put Jim in SEIC where he could take the 4th seat? Or are these yet-to-be-declared candidates going to shock-and-awe us all?

    Re: Pembroke-Rathmines Local Election 2009

bobby do you really think we should run 2 to get 2 in a six seater?

you must be very confident that the two ff boys will do very well and not need any transfers. Say Donnelly gets elected first it is very unlikely that he will have a huge surplus to bring little tubridy over the line and you would have little tubridy hanging around waiting for transfers which are unlikely to come ff's way. It is blindingly obvious that you need a third candidate to ensure the two front runners are pushed over the line.
you could make a case for running a fourth person but that could backfire in much the same way just running two would backfire.

That said why should it be little tubridy who joins donnelly if we run 2. Jim is well known in the Pembroke half and has a lot of family in the area along with the fact that he has strong rugby connections in both Rathmines and especially Pembroke. He also has strong legal connections in the area. He has also got the advantage that a year ago he was around the constituency and that will stand to him and the party in the locals.

What has Tubridy to offer. He is not known outside the party although given his surname it will obviously help but that will only get him so far. he has no track record and while that should not stop anyone getting a start it would be silly to put him in ahead of jim.
I dont think Little Tubridy has much of a presence in the same way Jim has or even michael donnelly has.Nobody knows what tubridys views are on anything. What does he stand for other than he supports Chrismat and is against bad planning and wants to improve Dublin!

What are his view on the Dunne proposals?

Little tubridy is a bit of a one trick pony in that all he appears to have is his name. I think there is no harm giving him a run but it would make no sense to do it at Jims expense as jim brings a lot to the table. certainly more than just his surname.

    Bobby,

far be it for me to speculate as to why FF do anything ro to give them advice. All I am doing is saying what i think will happen.

Revery- I hope you have managed to calm down after your anti-Tubridy rant. You should remember O'Callaghan's great "presence" and "family connections" got him about 8% of the vote in Pembroke last May.

In answer to why not Donnelly/O''Callaghan on a two-candidate ticket; they are both Rathmines-based, O'Callaghan did not transfer well last time, and the ticket doesn't have much new about it.... but that's just a view.

Cllr- I was only throwing an idea out there for discussions....none of my questions were actually answered but there you go!

bobby, just responding to your rather sill notion that ff shouldnt run Jim and should just run 2.

You still havent said what is so impressive about little Tubridy and what does he stand for other than the everything nice.

Revery. I'm not here to fly the flag for Garett Tubridy. It just seems to me that he would add something new and a better balance to the ticket than a 3-time failed candidate.

Your tone of argument, like your spelling and grammar, is very child-ish- referring to a married man and a father as 'little' or 'boy'. How old are you? Do your parents know you are talking to strangers on the internet when you should be doing your homework and learning how to spell and write properly?

If you are actually a FFer, instead of sniping about one of your potential candidates on this web-site when you don't even know what he stands for (apart from 'Chrismat'- whatever that is?) why don't you ask him or visit his web-site?

I have nothing against Jim, but if you're the best he has to offer, then I am looking forward to seeing Jim's posters at the locals: "Voat big Gim 1 number. (Voat auld fella 2 number and the Pembroke little one 3 number)" Merry Chrisamt.

I hope you have managed to calm down after your rant.(did i spell that correctly)

Bobby you say jim is " a 3-time failed candidate." Then you say;"I have nothing against Jim"

You clearly have something against jim and if you are not little tubridy then you are are obviously a stong supporter.

I support jim and make no bones about it. You on the other hand are clearly a little tubridy supporter so it is painfull to read your attempt to portray yourself as neutral.

you are right on one thing. I dont know what little tubridy stands for and after looking at his website/leaflet, i still dont but i am sure he loves chrismat (christmas for the anal)

Revery. I have a lot of time for anyone who puts themselves forward for election, whatever their political hue. There is nothing inconsistent in saying that I have nothing against Jim while acknowledging that his political record is poor. I do, however, detest any candidate who sends out his minions to snipe at other candidates to get ahead, particularly if they are of the same party. I think that's very, very poor form but I can see that you and I differ on this point.
