on the subject of posters in Pembroke-rathmines

dermot, your self righteous bashing of the greens rings hollow for me when the first posters i saw up before the start date were your party pals in SEIC joined by the poster of Deputy Gilmore (who frankly looks a little confused in that pictures). Glass Houses etc....

Am i right in assuming that the posters in the old lifeboat shop in rathmines dont count as they are not on public property?

although i was most ammused cycling by yesterday when I saw that someone had added a Tubirdy poster to the gate of the shop right beside you all!

and finally, the worst poster has to be Crosby in SEIC not for any legal reasons, but just because from a distance she looks like Madeline McCann.....

Was it not labour. Dermot lacey, has one up in Rathmines, that is exceptionally high.

Exceptionally high in the Poll would be preferable.

Cllr Lacey has a poster on what I think is public land opposite Paddy Cullen's pub in Ballsbridge, he may be able to clarify.

Dermot Lacey has two posters on that site that has been leased to a Sports Club with the permission of the Club.

I suppose the support he has given to sporting groups in the area over many years is simply being acknowledged.

Have only just seen this post and will refrain from commenting on the last point.

The Green Party posters were the most blatant that I saw. The excuse given by the candidate, according to the Indpendent, that he was given permission by the Department of the EHand LG was what really annoyed. First of all I think anyone who cares about Local Government would tell that Department that it should be none of their business one way or the other.

Secondly Yes the shop front in Rathmines is on private property - don't really mind what Tubridy does to be honest.

Lastly I am not anti- Green. In fact I was honoured to have been appointed by John Gormley to be one of his two appointees to the Local Government Reform Group. Personally I think the amount of silly rules governing posters, canvassing at polling Stations etc are daft and should be done away with. However once the rules were in I tried to comply. Once I saw them broken by others i had no intention of sitting idly by and giving my rivals a free hand.

    Hope that answers you satisfactorily

Freely admitting to breaking the rules - if you would admit to that, how can we be sure you weren't amongst the first and others followed you ?

You've gone down in my estimation Cllr!

I am normally quite happy to respond to posts especially when they are critical however I believe the last two to be simply childish.

He also said he got permission from Dublin City Council.

So you are indeed claiming the "but everybody else is doing it" defence. Poor show. You can look on Dave Robbins' posters as a stroke (I certainly do) but they were at least legal.
