I share that view but when speaking with Paddy during the week he said that he is running in the Pembroke -Rathmines ward.

i would have thought paddy mc Cartan would run in pembroke rathmines but that said he is in the enviable position of being able to run in either wards and get elected as he is well liked in ringsend/pearse st area and with a large amount of sandymount in the inner city it would help paddy who has worked the sandymount area well over the years.

that said i would say he will run in pembroke-rathmines and i would say he will get a seat

But if he did, FG would still have around two quotas in Pembroke-Rathmines, which means they would be on course for two seats

McCartan moving to SEIC wouldn't mean that 50% of the FG vote in P-R would just disappear

Seems like a strange strategy by FG to still run McCartan in P-R when he would just as easily, if not easier, take the seat in SEIC. Looking at how crowded P-R is becoming, I think this is a mistake.

jim o cal was at the family day in sandymount yesterday. He got a very warm reception and will be hard to beat in the locals. Young tubridy was there along with Pepper, Andrews and Kevin H. Tubridy looked a bit lonely. I think jim will beat donnelly and tubridy because he definitely got a very good reaction yesterday and he has the benefit of a run in the general last year which will stand to him and while donnelly may beat him in rathmines side i think jim will pick up more in pembroke and tubridy just wont eat into either of their votes enough to make an impression and will come in behind donnelly and jim. in fairness to tubridy, rathmines is a very difficult area to get votes especially from a standing start. A lot will depend on how much Andrews will come in behind his cousin.

I wonder could Daithi Doolan be in danger in SEIC, or will the extra seat save him?

The Greens and FG will be challenging for a seat here and Doolan's vote in the area collapsed completely at the general election last year

Is he in danger or will the extra seat save him?

Doolin will walk in in the SEIC.

In Pembroke-Rathmines I would say that Michael Donnelly should be ok, as will two Lab seats. Paddy gets a seat and then the final two between Lab for third and FG or FF for a second or the Greens for one. As of yet cannot be more specific.

Well the local conventional wisdom last year was that he could challenge for a seat, and he ended up being completely blown out of the water

So I wouldn’t make any rash predictions

I didn't share that view last year.

Facts are Kevin and Dathai have worked area well. (Obviously Kevin has worked much harder). New area suits both of them with the part of Sandymount added close to where they are both active. Sarah Ryan will win a seat. There is then a fourth spare seat. Even if FG or the Greens or FF or Lab picked up that extra seat there would still be room for Dathai to survive.
