As someone who lives in the area, and involved with some key groups I think you've got one winner listed here. Lacey. E/W bets on Quinn and Freehil. She has an issue with €8000 expenses last year -hard to explain away even if she did go to San Jose ona twinning trip.
Also McCartan has the Ballsbridge side but Terenure Rathagr are Wynnes and I feel they'll both take a seat.
There is something about Murphy. he's no messiah -even less a gun-totting Rambo -flying in from abroad to save us from arms deals. Again I think he's a little creepy and trying to hard. No real passion for 'politics' there. Good at marketing though.
Tubridy is the same and too 'dinner party, lets go to the rugby match and youtube everything'. Donnelly will take the seat over O'Callaghan with a much depleted first pref vote.
How many is that? 1,2 ...5 OK The last seat will be the surprise and I think it'll go to a small party /PBP/..maybe Green

Shylock i don't fully understand the points you are making here a little clarification maybe - please?
Hi, I'm a new user of the website. Recently moved to Rathmines and very into my politics. I was unsure who to vote for come June, this being a new constituency and with so many names and faces. I'm disillusioned with the mainstream parties, although I suppose I'd be traditional Fianna Fail. Anyway, two weeks ago I met Bryce Evans at a stall outside the Swan Centre - he is not like these bolshy types you get on the left and is fairly knowledgable and balanced in his views. I visited his website and he seems to have some good policies. I'll be supporting him because it seems to me that a young guy with some ideas for change should get a chance. There's a brief biog on his website but does anyone know more about him?
Hey, Rathmines Radical. I know the People Before Profit candidate. He is a young and enthusiastic person and could make waves in the upcoming election. Generally I am left leaning and hope Labour do wel as well as PBP and the other left parties. The last thing the constituency needs is Edie Wynn, Eoghan Murphy or Garrett Tubridy on the council.
I looked at this guy's website/blog - I can't deny that he seems like a sincere and genuine guy, but I was very disappointed with what I found when I clicked on his local issues link. There are a whole range of real issues concerning the public from Sandymount to Harold's Cross but all PBP can come up with is a bland opposition to any reduction in certain bus services (and curiously not to others). The other issues are other parties putting up election posters too early and having a protest outside Chris Andrews constituency office... so much for PBP offering a break from party politics as usual.
They do mention the demolition of the Convent in Terenure - it was a dreadful act, but it isn't actually in the Rathmines ward - its in the Crumlin Ward.
They will need to shed the rhetoric and dramatically beef up their local policies (ie actually come up with some real local policies) if they want to be at the races in Rathmines/Pembroke.
I suppose you are right about the party politics. But I don't see any of the other parties opposing these bus cuts that are going to come in soon and really hurt people. I went to his meeting in the Multi Denominational School at the start of April and he had a bus worker talking as well. Bryce was making some good points specific to the city development plan and how cuts in public transport are unsustainable - with plenty of green points thrown in, which I liked. The Convent is in the other ward but i think it's on the border of the two so not a million miles away. My point is I dont think he's a sectarian leftie - which I like. He needs to get on top of the issues you mentioned, but I personally quite liked the blog. Quite personal and without the corporate tint to the other 'young men in a hurry' in the race - murphy and tubridy
I think McCartan is the strongest FG candidate throughout the Pembroke side of the Ward.... not just Ballsbridge, the problem is that Edie seems to be confining herself to the Terenure/Rathgar edge of the Rathmines side of the Ward. There isn't too much of Terenure in the Ward - that just leaves her with Rathgar. The problem for her is that some of the FG canvassers who helped Gillen do so well in rathmines & Rathgar are now working with Murphy.
I'd prefer to see Edie hang on, she's a decent and committed local FG activist and has been shafted by FG in both Dub S/E & S/C countless times since the late 80s. She deserves some success, but it looks like her own campaign strategy is doing her in.
Eoghan Murphy may be a neophite, but he is coming across as enthusiastic, and that ain't a bad thing in politics. You may be right in your assessment of him, in fairness you are not the only FGer pointing out his weaknesses, but so far, he is the best known FG candidate in certains parts of the Ward... and that includes Creighton.
.
I agree with your latter point. He does seem like a personable guy and not (as an earlier poster pointed out) the standard issue "bolshi leftie". The only point where I might quibble with you is the idea that it takes finances to come up with some relevant local policies. It doesn't.
What it does suggest is an organisation that spends too much time telling the public what it thinks and hasn't really managed to listen to what the public really thinks. Local elections are about listening to people's local concerns - and I ainm't seeing much of that on his blog. But - it's early days yet.
