So Tony Williams has been co-opted tonight!

An absolute disgrace! And it was more than a shoo-in it was a love-in! For all the billowing from certain quarters nobody opposed the motion..maybe the Shinners did a wee bit but honestly its a cycnical move by the defunct PDs to do this, and even worse for the other parties to approve!

He must have some money that Eoghan Murphy he sent a letter to everybody registered in his ward today(fully paid postage) that would cost a pretty penny.

I live in Pembroke Rathmines and did not get a letter from Eoghan Murphy - does he know I am not an FG voter?

I live in the ward too and no wee letter came from wee Murphy for me either! But I think, FG putting him on the ticket will only split their vote. They've no chance of winning more than 2 seats.

Sorry, typed Humphreys instead of Williams. All the same to me anyway -they're both useless!

    Williams got co-opted.
The word 'politics' is derived from the word 'poly', meaning 'many', and the word 'ticks', meaning 'blood sucking parasites

    Yes,

Tony was co-opted tonight. Under the rules governing vacancies the PD's were entitled to the seat. While we may and do legitimately comment on the hypocrisy of the PD's seeking to fill the vancany in this manner I for one was not going to rain on Tony Williams parade. He has been a longstanding PD activist. The people of Pembroke last time voted for a PD Councillor and hence the right of that Party to fill the vacancy. I made that point during my own comments and in fairness I have to say that Tonys own comments were very gracious.

While I am it it was interesting to see Eoghan Murphy in the gallery at the Area Committee today.

Will it be FG 3 or Lab 3 or FF 2 or what - eight weeks will tell a tale on this!!

Excuse me, if this is a stupid question, but haven't the PDs officially disbanded so how can a non existent party fill a vacancy! Can Tony not accept that they are no more? C

Surely no other party can nominate for this 'vacant' seat?
