    Re: Pembroke-Rathmines Local Election 2009

Is this when I am meant to come in and say heck I am in big trouble and will need every vote I can get.

The truth is that Labour can hold three seats, Mary and myself topped the Poll and Oisin came second to Mary. Five years later of hard work and I think we can do it - but of course I am the one in trouble.

    my prediction:

mccaartan to run in Pem-Rath and build on the vote he got in Pembroke he got last time and Edie might get enough to hold onto second seat.

labour to get 2 seats for definite and they are quinn and lacey. not sure who will come out on top between these two but cllr wont mind because he is happy to serve the electorate as local gov rep as thats where his real interest lies!

greens to get one with meade

FF to get one with OCallaghan just beating donnelly as he has been around the constituency just a year ago and while donnelly will have a strong core he wont build on it enough to get ahead of big jim.Big jim will be ahead of tubridy as he has covered the whole constituency and has the rugby people on his side and donnelly/tubridy transfers will get him the first seat.

The sixth seat will be between fg's Edie and ff and i cant call it. If it is FF i cant call whether it will be donnelly or tubridy as donnelly has a solid 1400 votes from rathmines going into pembroke and tubridy has zilch. That said he has a good name and will get a good bit of publicity ( then so did michael McDowell)

labour - 2- quinn to shine and cllr to comfortably come in
    greens -1-meade
    ff - 1-big jim
    fg -1-paddy
    FG/FF -1edie/ donnelly/ tubridy

    SEIC - very predictable

ff - 1 (ryan must be delighted as she was safe in 3 seater and is extra safe in 4)
    lab - hump
    sf - dolan
    greens -1

Probably the most interesting of all the Dublin CC changes. I think the spectators entertainment here is the Labour battle. I can't see them getting three and its highly unlikely they will only end up with one.

I would see Freehill being in the most trouble here, its obvious that Labour will not want to lose Quinn (as a possible future TD) and Lacey is a effective and hard working Councillor, both Citywide and Constituency. Freehill is as mad as a bag of cats and aside from being a bum on a seat for Labour in DCC adds nothing to the organisation.

Given the relatuive total transfer of Laceys pembroke constituency I say he is safe. Quinn probably needs to up his local work and then with a push mop up enough 1st prefs to stay ahead of Freehill.

    .
    stupidest post ever.

clearly do not know Cllr Mary Freehill nor the huge contribution and work she does on the Council, on the ground and in the Labour Party.

Jim84. Congradulations on being the only member of the Labour party in Dublin who has something positive to say about Mary Freehill

Ok you call it, If there is only 2 Labour seats who will get them. If you really believe there are three lets hear from you in what order of election?

As a possible running mate to Mary can I say that I believe that she has an excelelnt record of achievement and delivery to both her area and the City of Dublin. I am not going to be drawn on this one any further but I believe that post was unfair to a fine labour Public Representative.

When I know who is running, I'll make a prediction. It's far to early to get into this type of speculation, but Freehill has the hardest fight, but it's a fight I think she is more capable of winning. Nobody expected us to take two out of four in Rathmines, I wouldn't bet against them...

During the Lisbon campaign Doolan spent a lot of time in Rathmines, with approx 1000 SF voters for token candidates in the area, there is a SF seat in this ward if Doolan runs there.

Wonderfully put. Gormley went into government with people he knew to be criminals, and gerrymandering is utterly consistent with what they do.

Wrt elections and "green" malfeasance, there is of course Vincent McDowell RIP to think of.

Finally, assuming your response was worded as it is to escape a possible libel suit, the person to whom you respond has not hesitated to libel people on this forum and better watch his manners.

So you believe that Gormley leaned on the committees to get a particular result?

That would be me. I think this is a new accusation, so far I think you've only accused me of "outing" posters (an allegation you were unable to substantiate). I don't suppose you want to provide us with a reference to my supposed libel?

He set the terms of reference, he didn't need to lean on anyone
