So how do people think this constituency will pan out in 2007? Will SF increase their vote? Will Labour take a seat off FF, or could there be a surprise here?

SF, FF, Lab and FG should all get one. Then the last seat gets very messy indeed.
Main point of interest will be the performance of Joan Collins, the anti-bin tax independent. The hard left picked up 4,500 or so votes in the constituency in the locals.
I think we have a good chance of increasing the vote in this area, we had a really good local election result in the area taking three seats, and also our candidate in Terenure Rathfarnam took some votes in the area too. I think they have put together a good team in the constituency now and they will do very well, just think 2 ½ years ago we had no representation there and now we have 3 CC and a TD.

Also, isn't this the constituency where there is a feud in the Labour Party between sticky and old-labour camps?
Yeah, I think there was a whole thing about Eric Byrne and Mary Upton, and who would get to run for the late Pat Upton's seat. Can't really remember the details, but I think Eric was more than a bit miffed about it all. It probably cost him the seat last time around. (well, that and the SF vote. I'm from the constituency, and I had never heard even a whisper about ó Snodaigh before the last election campaign (or even during most of it...))Also, isn't this the constituency where there is a feud in the Labour Party between sticky and old-labour camps?
Aside: One thing you have to say for Eric, though, is that he had the best/most random election slogan EVER! "Eric Byrne, Sound as a bell!"![]()
Heavy words are so lightly thrown.
That was the main reason, but there was particular hatred between the Labour and DL camps in that constituency, going back quite a while, and even more intense than in other places.Yeah, I think there was a whole thing about Eric Byrne and Mary Upton, and who would get to run for the late Pat Upton's seat. I'd say their Christmas parties are a barrel of laughs these days.

What? Not even during the by election campaign shortly before it?(well, that and the SF vote. I'm from the constituency, and I had never heard even a whisper about ó Snodaigh before the last election campaign (or even during most of it...))
