Could you explain how it's in the community's interest to lose 16 teachers across the ward? Or to have 400,000 taken from the drugs task forces? Or 5 million from the social housing budget? Maybe you could explain which part of the community benefits from losing their Christmas bonuses or which of us should be grateful for the income levies? Which families in SWIC will benefit from closing 25 beds and an operating theatre in Crumlin Hospital? Which girls will profit from the abandonment of the cervical cancer screening programme? Does Anita have the interests of St Michael's estate or St Teresa's Gardens at heart as their regeneration collapses?

Whatever about her past track record she's proudly standing for a party doing more damage to working class communities in SWIC than anyone else. One can only suspect it's because, having presumably made the decision to contest the election before the recession, she hoped for a Council seat and that interest, her own, is the one that's really in her heart.

further to herodotst post few days ago.Surely when a candidate is active in the community and well versed in whats happening he is worth voting for. After all this is local election and it suppossed to be about people getting things done at a local level and not operating on the negitive. There must be at least 5 or 6 candidates talking about national issuses which they have zero control over.

Thats ok if your running as an Indo but if you stand for a party you stand for a party warts and all.National decisions do have a huge impact on local government.

I think that if the above ' adjustments' cover the payments from the public purse to the Ardagh dynasty, they would seem more than reasonable.

    To the Ardagh dynasty.

What do people think of election posters that are in people's gardens?

It is a good idea IMO. However I have a little story for you's. Peter O'Neill has his poster up in someones garden 5 doors from where he lives. The person in question stabbed the local greengrocer a few years ago and stole the till, there was 25p in the till. He is well known as a scumbag and lowlife in Bluebell, he should be in Jail for 10 life sentences for his crimes. A bit unusual for Peter O'Neill of FG as I thought FG were in favour of law and order and not associating with lowlifes.

The vote for an Independent or find a social worker. Local elections are not policy or politics free zones. Different political parties bring different agendas. Some, like Anita Reilly's Fianna Fáil, endorses Public Private Partnerships like the ones that collapsed in St Michael's despite repeated reports from the Comptroller and Auditor General pointing out that they are more expensive in the long run than using state money. Others, like Sinn Féin, the Socialist Party and to an extent Labour, oppose this.

Some parties want more social housing than others. Some want to increase commercial rates on local authorities to fund services. Some parties supported the bin charges, crippling working poor families across the city (Thanks Anita), others opposed it.

There is a deeply politically immature belief that a councillor is simply someone who helps you with your housing transfer or sorts out your social welfare for you. And they do that. Absolutely. But that's not all they do. And I haven't even gone into their role in supporting local campaign groups and organisations such as the leadership local reps can provide a community in resisting decisions made by central government.

I'm sure Anita Reilly's a lovely woman but let's be brutally honest, at best she's a bit harmless. At worst she's an apologist for the economic and political decisions that are crippling the very communities she claims to be concerned about.

As this desciption can only refer to two specific addresses, perhaps one depending on where Peter O'Neill lives, I hope details are accurate. Mind you the 25p in the till bit does not suggest a great precision about the facts - or else that the good people of Bluebell aren't getting their 5 portions a day.

I heard Eamonn Gilmore was down in Fatima today and Gerry Adams was in Oliver Bond this evening,it seems like SWIC is a very important constituency to some of the parties.

And neither Brian Cowen or Enda Kenny have come anywhere near SWIC. Let's all hope that Anita, Catherine and Clare all fall on their political swords come Saturday! The last thing the people of SWIC needs neither of the daughters of the local conservative TD's or the 'Fianna Fail gave me money to run and I thought yeah candidate', who just happens to have posters all over the ward with her party logo attached and if elected would no doubt carry on the tradition of seeing what she could do for her developer friends first and foremost.

Lots of luck with that unfortunately. Clare Byrne will top the poll... Catherine and Anita I'd be more hopeful of hari kari
