How would you call the 4 seats so?
There could hardly be a bigger anti-gov swing in SWIC than there was the last time. This is probably the easiest ward to call in Dublin (imho) the 3 outgoing+ 1 FFer,the greens wont get over 1k here and you would probably need 1.7k first pref to be in with a shout.

Any truth in the rumour that the remaining Ardagh sibling (think its Rory) is standing in the Ballyfermot ward? If so it really is becoming a bit much. At least the Lenihans have the decency to spread themselves out across the country.

'k' is shorthand for '1000'. He means the Greens might take about 1000 votes and would need 1 700. Not 1.7 times the quota

nah, he runs a business. You only really see at the count as he usually runs the computers at the tally. Didn't see that much in 2007 general election.

Yeah sounds about right - labour will be adding a second candidate in this ward and it should be confirmed on the 20th of this month. It should be Rebecca Moynihan but you would never know.

SF is a party going through a mini-crisis. FF and FG are not.

    There's your reason
Are they? Explain. Is 'mini-crisis' not an oxymoron?

The PDs are going through a crisis. SF are just fine thanks.

Alot of bitter comments going on here about the Ardaghs. At the end of the day, people go for election, and you can vote them in or not! the reason people in political families go for election is because they have grown up with a sense of public service, hardly a bad thing. Obviously i'm not an ff supporter, but Ardagh is one of the good ones, at least he is capable.

Getting back to SWIC. John Gallagher is a shoe in alright, and on a good day, and if they pick the right candidate, don't write off a second labour canidate winning. Criona ni dhalaigh has a very good reputation for work, should carry her through. i think only one of Ms Ardagh/Ms Byrne will make it. word is that Byrne junior is very weak, and FF have come in with no seat here before, could happen again.

I would agree entitely with the second half(although Labour have very little chance of 2) but I disagree with what you say about the Ardagh dynasty, with no disrespct to them what budding candidate is going to oppose one of the siblings knowing that he or she would have to face the ire of the boss.

Ah here if they are going to be too scared to put themselves forward for selection they wouldn't stand a chance in politics anyway.
