A lot better everything in my experience.

The Danes know how to do it and they're about our size of country.

The natives don't come anywhere close.

    Look around you.

The English could not plan an orgy in a brothel, where'as the people from Bord Planera could not find the brothel.

    A suggestion.

Travel around Northern Europe and you will see see a different level of planning.

Good point about the Danes and Planning.

The recycling center in Copenhagen is something we should copy verbatum.

The are far from perfect, but they do have there act together.

This link lists comparable european cities to Dublin.

Swords, Co. Dublin VS Purmerend, Amsterdam

I can't seem to post maps to the forum... but if you compare them visually it appears to me that the Dutch win. [NB: I selected both suburbs for nothing other than randomness]

The Brits are as good as anyone up until WWII imho - after that it all gets a bit dodgy everywhere!

Also, the Brits have a list of world-class buildings and areas from the past 30 years or so - much of which we have ripped off.

Gherkin, Lloyds, Shard, Docklands, Tate Modderin etc etc

They do nice suburbs - apartment blocks in nice landscaped areas, sunken amphitheatres, bicycle lanes - was there a few times.

    Nice.

The natives don't come anywhere close - they put a rusty steel pylon in the middle of their main street and they call it art.

    These people are lost.

Your defeatist, submissive attitude is nauseating. Are you a unionist by any chance?

The Brits didn't just come to Ireland and build everything around us. We Irish built a lot of the architecture we have today. It was Irish architects and labourers that built Leinster House, Government Buildings, the GPO, and Four Courts, amongst others.

As for the spire, you are aware that the British gave it an architectural award?
