Wouldn't be much point complaining about the windy road but I've written to Greyhound and the Green Party about the useless unclosable bins to neither reply nor effect.

So, finally received a letter through the letterbox from Greyhound. All is the same. Nothing changes. apparently ! Looks like you need a recycling tag now though, and not just the actual bag as before. .. There is an ominous line in the letter though.. 'The cost of bin tags will remain unchanged for an initial period.... '( ah here!!)

is it true that the upfront charge is essntially to cover a bond of 4€m they had to pay to the council. Nice to win a contract and get your customers to fund your business.

The bin lift charge only remains the same for the next six months. I bet once everyone has paid the 100 euro standing charge then the lift charge will rise dramatically.

Still no communication from anyone about this - I put my tagged bin bags out this morning and they were collected, albeit 4 hours later than usual: Greyhound have been collecting the 'green' (actually clear) bags for a while now, so I expect nothing has changed, but either way, a letter would be nice. As O'Neill 32 points out, the assurance that it will remain unchanged for 6 months is not reassuring at all.

    Uh oh.

Where's Tony Soprano when you need him!

Anyway here in SDCC there is an annual charge of 60E plus a fixed lift charge for both black and brown bins, PLUS a 23c per kilo charge on the weight!!!!. Green lifts free provided you've paid the annual charge.

So brace yourselves DCC, the same will apply to you one day very soon.

Anyhoo, just checked the Greyhound website to see what the per kilo and fixed charges for SDCC are, and lo and behold the info is not there.... now I wonder why that is?

They don't want DCC and SDCC to be fighting each other because one is cheaper than the other. So I've emailed them to find out why they have not got the SDCC costs upfront. I will have long grey hair and none of my own teeth I'd say while I await a response.

The gas part of it all is, one time late last year there was a mix up of collection days... more of that to come I expect, and we were emailed to put out black and brown together (that is happening as of now anyway, they used to be collected separately), and the one bin lorry collected both! Now I doubt the bin lorry has a section for landfill, and a section for organic waste..... mesmerised I was by that one!

So all this separating your rubbish is just that.. pure feckin rubbish. Unless someone can tell me the bin lorries have separate compartments.

I am lol at the shenanigans going on here. And things, can only get bett... worser and worser, I tells ya!

And honestly, it doesn't matter what provider you choose, they will all end up costing the same in the long run. They can't afford not to with the big landfill levy now.

I cannot understand why they went from a quarterly bill model to a prepaid model without consulting the end user. What was wrong with the direct debit after the work was done ? We are now handing over our money to a private company in advance before they do a thing. This stinks of corruption. How is this fair or right ?
