Thanks FG cllr, who is the new méara and leas-mhéara? Am I right in saying since we've had Joan Maher - FG (a really lovely woman) and Joe Corr - GP (decent bloke aswell), a Labour comrade will be méara this time?

Nope, Labour next year. Not sure whom, but I note D15 has not had a Mayor yet. I've not actually asked Labour who their candidate will be.

Good stuff, fair play to Cllr. Farrell, or more correctly Méara Farrell (or Méara Ó Fearaíl), he seems like a decent chap, and Peggy Hamill is sound aswell.
On another note, is Darragh O'Brien the first alumnus of that vernarable institution, that shining tower of acedemia that is Pobailscoil Íosa to descend into the murky pits of Dáil Éireann. Its a pity for him that he never got to do the tour of the Junior Block with the cup (or Dáil bar membership card??) held aloft, as the cheering kids lined the corridor saluting with their sausage rolls and crisps, and as the prefects formed a gaurd of honour up to the door of the principal's office, where returning son, Deputy O'Brien, would be welcomed with open arms and a dram of Mr. Canon's private whiskey stash. There, now as equals, mano-a-mano, the TD and the head teacher could discuss legislation to address the problems of unbuttoned shirts and facial hair, ignoring the bells for small break and big break, talking late into the evening, burning certain permanent records and scheming for a new world order based around attendance sheets and shoe polish. Paradise Lost - it is not to be!
Still, at least there's that fancy new school which he can parade about in to his hearts content.
Are the other Malahide cllrs, Farrell and Kelly, old boys aswell out of interest?
