You are probably right. Though I stopped going to Dublin around then. It became a foreign country.

Maybe we're livingin the golden era. We are finally multi-cultural and the vast majority of us are happy to see Dublin become such a cosmopiltan city. Maybe when we get out of this recession we'll have more perspective and truly enjoy being a modern city with superb facilities although the transport system still needs serious work.

You make that sound as a achievement, an end in it's own right.

I don't have a probelm with that aspect of modern Dublin. However, Dublin in the 70's and 80's was not a dull and boring place.

There is a horrible place called Dail Eireann there that drags the tone of the whole city down, other than that its fine

The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is.

The Walkinstown Roundabout is indeed a Magical Place!

I'm 26 so obviously I wouldn't have known Dublin prior to the 90s;I have to say that Dublins golden era was 1990s to present tbh, that's when the city was transformed from being a total backwater kip to being a somewhat decent world-class city.
