    dublin flooding

can't see a thread on this -- please merge if one already exists.

the 36 hours of non-stop rain may soon be posing a very big problem if it keeps up for much longer. apparently some streets on the north circular road are flooded and the strawberry beds in lucan are impassable, with some motorists having abandoned their cars.

meanwhile the dart service between bray and dun laoghaire has only just reopened after having to be closed for much of the day.

i live in central dublin, near the bottom of a hill, and i can hear some belch-like noises coming from my toilet as the drainage system under my apartment block struggles to cope with all the water going down the drains. happily the water level in the bowl hasn't changed.

really hope this godawful weather stops soon, and not just because of the usual aesthetic reasons.

All those who live on Jerry built Celtic Tiger housing estates should be extremely worried. I wonder just how many developments got final inspection sign off on the back of a big brown envelope?

My garden is under two inches of water and my kitchen has a nice little stream of water pouring merrily from the ceiling into a large pot, could be a long night

I blame the city council...a lot of the flooding is caused by blocked drains

    They are a joke

Yep .... much of the flooding around Clontarf ( the excuse to destroy the seafront amenity when actually its to lay a water main as cheaply as possible) is down to the state of the drainage system rather than the sea ......plenty of evidence of this along the seafront tonight

But the when was the last time you saw the Corpo cleaning the drains ....... cant keep drains clean and pay the massive salaries to 4 replica councils in Dublin now the development levies are gone ....so guess which goes first the salaries or the services ...... yep... enjoy the flooding

Castlewood Avenue between Rathmines and Ranelagh villages is a deluge of running and standing water. Pedestrians getting drenched by passing cars. Ranelagh village has an enormous pool of water gathered under the Luas bridge.
