Re: DSW - Local Elections 2009

Marie Ardagh, Cait Keane and Eamon Walsh will all be sitting councillors running from the Templeogue/Greenhills end of Tallaght Central if 3 get elected from this end it will be these 3 and not really going to be much room for anyone else. I don't know where the FG guy who replaced Stanley Laing will run now although as he is a Hayes man you would have to think its not worth him running in Rathfarnam as no DSW area except Ballycullen (Which should have been part of Tallaght South) he will find it difficult in Tallaght Central. The interesting part will be the Tallaght end of Tallaght Central as some sitting councillors will have to make decisions between south and central. Haven't posted in a while will have to get a new name "May 2007" is so last year.

    must agree with you hiding........

ff in the new tallaght central is the most interesting and must be seen as a real test for oconnor........in the tallaght end....

what does he do?......find 2 new names?...run rod? run Aine oconnor?..................

running rod will be a brave decision for O'Connor.........and could lead to a situation where ff have no seat in the tallaght end......................with a ff independent oconnor taking the only seat being a real prospect................time for hq/cowen to intervene I expect!

so a ff ticket of Ardagh, O'Connor, Smyth is in prospect? with an addition of a ind ff candidate......Trouble ahead!

    Eamon Walsh is retiring.
"Elite - a small superior group; esp one that has a power out of proportion to its size." (Oxford English Dictionary)

The majority cannot therefore be the elite.

Re: DSW - Local Elections 2009

[quote="hiding behind a poster"]I'm not gonna post a great deal on this thread, basically because those who know me here know that I'm reasonably close to the action, and it wouldn't be fair on the potential FG candidates across DSW for me to discuss party strategy here. All I will say is that in terms of the other parties, Labour's ticket now has a very lopsided look about it, with two candidates already chosen from the Templeogue/Greenhills end, and no-one as yet at the Tallaght end. And I haven't looked at the register figures yet, but I'd be surprised if there were more voters at the Templeogue end. For SF, I'd expect to see Daly go to Tallaght South, but it might just be Crowe on his own in Central - if he's being positioned for a 2012 GE run, they won't take the (admittedly small) risk of him not making it in 2009 - and if there is a second candidate, he or she will purely be a sweeper. For FF, I'm not really sure what they do - presumably Neville will want to run in Tallaght South, which means a strong, though slightly lopsided ticket of himself, Hannon and AN Other from the western end of the ward. In terms of Central, that would mean an FF ticket without a sitting councillor on it, am I right? Presumably Murphy runs in Central, with Daly and possibly AN Other from West Tallaght running for SF in South. What's left? Well, for Labour in South its presumably Jones and Corr again, with Eamon Maloney as well?[/quote

in relation to the new Tallaght South and the composition of the DED'S, it looks as if Hannon, Corr, Jones, Maloney, Warren, Daly, King and Neville could be contesting this five seater. Hannon is based in Firhouse, Corr in Jobstown, Jones in Ballycragh, Maloney in OldBawn, Warren in OldBawn, Daly in OldBawn, King in Deerpark with strong support in Killinarden and Neville in Aylesbury. This looks like eight out-going Councillors contesting five seats.

Without wanting to single out hiding behind a poster, could all those who claim to be reasonably close to the action move away from the keyboard and get rid of the referendum posters. Thank you

The word on the ground is that in Tallaght Central FG are going to run recently co-opted Councillor Colm Brophy and local Party stalwart Brian Dawson. Dawson is based in Tallaght and is young and savvy. He would in my view make a strong candidate in the Tallaght end of the ward and he works closely with local TD Brian Hayes

It is expected that Sean Crowe will run in the new Tallaght Central ward in 2009 and then in DSW in the following General Election.

He will though it has yet to be decided which ward he will run in, I expect it will become much clearer in the coming week or two.
