The deadline is June 20th and my understanding is that the Minister will publish the report immediately. Yes I gather Roderick appeared at an FF meeting last Monday after a four year absence (Sean Dorgan, FF General Secretary was in attendance). I gather that O´Connor in attempt to shaft Neville is backing a young female candidate who lives on Neville´s doorstep in OldBawn. Neville is not too happy at this. Four of the five sitting Councillors in Tallaght Central live in the OldBawn area even though it only has 2700 registered voters out of a total electorate of 29000. O´Conor has failed to find or is pretending to have failed to find a credible candidate in Springfield ( a key area if Crowe runs in Tallaght Central, as we know it). If O´Connor gives Roderick the same support that he gave him in 2004 then Roderick is going nowhere. Is O´Connor trying to be too cute in the Convention. A similar ploy was tried in 2004 at the then Tallaght Central Convention but it failed. Will an O´Connor suddenly appear out of the woodwork after Neville and a second OldBawn Candidate are selected. My forecast is that Charlie is trying to pull a fast one which could have unfavourable consequences for Neville and could result in only one seat for FF at most.

Only one seat in the 2 wards? Mick Murphy will struggle anyway id say and Maloney, and Sinn Fein momment has passed Mark Daly should get in but there wont be a swing back to them.

interesting stuff watergate.....heard rod rumours but didnt know he was at the meeting.

O'connor heavily backed smyth in 03-04 both logistically and financially.......indeed he has lost a lot personally as a result of his support for rod...............and lots still wonder why?..waht has rod got?

cant understand his logic in shafting joe neville......didnt think he'd care about the locals, he plans to retire in 2012 and has NO chance of a 'job' under cowen...........

hes managed to Pi** off some credible people in DSW, indeed one such person is telling whoever wants to listen that if smyth runs in 09 with charlies support...........a 'independent FF' candidate will run directly against smyth, well financed and up for a real fight.......

Whos the 'woman candidate' form old bawn?......what happened to Aine O'Connors planned run?(at one stage at an advanced level of planning).........

its hotting up alright.....come september its all systems go!...I expect.....

The ' woman candidate from OldBawn' is originally from Aylesbury and is involved with a group called TRCU. I would strongly suggest that you do a google search on them and some of their postings. They were established after the adoption of the Tallaght Masterplan and a large number of their members have political ambitions. Some of the postings from members including the lady from OldBawn are scurilous about the Government, local FF Deputies and local FF Councillors.

I would suggest, that before FF HQ even consider nominating or ratifying this lady, that they check this website. Do not discount Aine O'Connor as I think Deputy O'Connor is waiting to present her as the Springfield candidate.

    Interesting times ahead.

    It will be interesting alright………

I now presume that Charlie is waiting to ’drop’ Aine into the Springfield area closer to the election to counter any problems which may arise…. And their are many!

An old friend of mine from the rugby club, is close to Charlie and he tells me that all is not well in the O’Connor camp as they are not all on speaking terms principally due to various events 5 years ago, indeed he tells me that its so bad that a [b]Senior Government Minister has offered to mediate between the family to sort out the row.

Charlies plans re Aine O’Connor are even more bizarre as it seems she has been separated from his son for some considerable time.

Charlies 3 sons are not interested /suitable / capable of running, However I understand that one of his sons has told senior FF people that if the ‘messing’ of the previous election is repeated, he will run as a Fianna Fail allinged Independent candidate against the official FF ticket which may include Aine O’Connor!.......I wonder has Brian Cowen been told yet?

This matter is serious and urgent for the party in DSW and is a real mess, which at best will result in only one seat and maybe none!..........

    Fun And Games!

Re: DSW - Local Elections 2009

I was very happy to see DSW post the highest No vote in the entire country. I think the Sinn Fein campaign in this area was excellect led by the chair of the party and the organiser. I think this has once again lifted republicans and made them realise that we can retain our two seats and maybe make a gain if we put the work in. I think all the councilours who put up their YES posters all over Tallaght may be regretting doing so because there is no doubt come the elction I for one will be reminding people in Tallaght about it, even if one councillour who had posters up was actually out of the country on holiday for the whole campaign!!

In relation to correcting things, what ever happened your Councillor in Tallaght Central. He was elected by the people of Tallaght Central but he appears to have gone awol from both the Council chamber and on the ground. He was not seen at all during the Lisbon campaign nor during the last two years or so. What's the story?, is he running again?. I cannot think of his name right now but I do remember that he ran against Mary Lou for the SF nomination for Europe.
