Give it a rest, for God's sake. They were all on election footing for the last 18 months - the Dail isn't sitting now, so they're all on holidays - ok?

As for your Hayes remarks, I'd remind you that while Hayes lost his seat in 2002 with 4,654 first preference votes and no full-time constituency office, he regained his seat in 2007 with 8,346 first preference votes - AND NO FULL TIME CONSTITUENCY OFFICE. So there must be slightly more to it than that.

And as for West Tallaght, his vote went up solidly all across West Tallaght, so I guess the folks there saw him occasionally.

You don't seem to like any of the Oireachtas members in DSW.

Most of the Parties are waiting for the Boundary Report, which is due by June 20th, 2008 before having their conventions. Labour are the exception and they had their Terenure-Rathfarnham convention last night. It is my understanding that outgoing Councillor Paddy Cosgrove and Dermot Looney & Pamela Kearns contested the convention. I have not heard the outcome as of now.

There are no dead certs in Dublin South West. I would imagine that most of the outgoing Councillors will run again with one and maybe two interesting exceptions. Sean Crowe has announced that he will be running in 2009. Not sure whether in Central or South, it all depends on both any change in the boundaries or a change in the seat numbers between Central and South.

I have heard on the grapevine that the PD's have approached a well known community figure in what is now Tallaght South. The response was supposed to have been positive.

We will have a greater idea of the races in the various wards once the Boundar Report is issued

    Paddy and Pamela were selected.
The word 'politics' is derived from the word 'poly', meaning 'many', and the word 'ticks', meaning 'blood sucking parasites

The WHAT? They mightn't even exist, drjim - anyway, no-one's announcing anything for Tallaght South until they know what Tallaght South will actually be.
